It was my first time there and I had a terrible experience. The workers followed us around the store and watched us . It is not worth going there for such an hostile environment. Especially because everything is already very expensive. I will take my money back to Philadelphia to the German Store and Deli

Wish they had more of a food selection but store is too small for that. Just grateful we have an actual German grocery around. Yes, prices are high for a lot of foods but that's what happens when you have to import things. Meat and cheese selection is great.

We highly recommend this place!

Well, it's a hit and miss. Some of the cut meats and hands are awesome. Love the Leberkäs, but Liversausage with too much nutmeg tasted off. The Truffelterine is yummy. The salads have a funky flavor to me, but my hubby loves them.
The Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte is hands down the best cake there. It is moist and tastes authentic. The other cakes taste like they are made with boxed cake. The cremes are mostly tasteless. Even my American hubby didn't like them.
For the imports, when they come in fresh, they are great, but the Lindt with Cognac chocolate bar was completely dried out, even though the expiration date was months away. For the high price, I expected fresh chocolate that was stored correctly.
The Topkuss are awesome, and I've never had them that fresh. They must have just been delivered.
Overall, I don't buy much sweets here since the prices are a joke. They charge 4 times their original price. Even with taxes, shipping, and profit, it shouldn't be that much. Many of the items can be bought at local stores for a more reasonable price...

Communities from around the world settle in the D.C. area and with them come restaurants and stores. This small store is packed with German products from juice to food. They have a bakery with pastries, a deli with meats, cheeses, and sandwiches. There's even a section of non-food items like shampoo, etc.

Wonderful little shop that carries hard to find German and Swiss items, a variety of beer and wine and fun German themed gifts. The best part though is their delicious home baked goods and deli. They have THE BEST Bavarian potato salad and excellent sausages.

I really wanted this place to deserve 5 stars because as a native German I really want a place to come get things that I love about my homeland, but some of the prices are so offensively high here that it is more affordable to fly to Germany and bring them back than to shop here. Almost $7 for a 200gram bag of Erdnußflips is absurd. I can get the knock off version at Aldi for $3 and it’s just as good. Furthermore the sale of Oktoberfest paraphernalia as being quintessential German is just absolutely abhorrent. There is so much more to my beautiful country than Oktoberfest, and no one wears this cheap fake stuff in Germany. Bavaria sleeves? I’m disgusted honestly.

Excellent deli products in my experience. I've purchased deli/bakery products multiple times. The freshness and overall quality has been on point every time.

In addition to specialty groceries, they have a huge selection of hot and cold food made to order

My husband and I drove down from Loudoun county. This place was absolutely amazing. It had so much to remind us of my husbands home. We got a sandwich and than of course some haribo candy. Also some German goodies of meat. We will definitely be back again.

Unfortunately the service quality has significantly deteriorated. On Sunday 04/07/2024 at 3:20 pm, the seller refused to slice bread because they had already cleaned the bread-slicing machine. The store closes at 4 pm.

Such an amazing store in my neck of the woods. I’ve lived in my home near German Gourmet store for almost 14 years, I’ve driven by countless times and never entered. That ended today when I went inside, and it was AWESOME! Having served in the USAF stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany for two years I was able to sample the best of Germany food. I’m not an alcohol drinker so the beers were never my thing. This store took me back to my 19-20’s when I tried the German food, and lived like a king in Germany. This store has any and everything Germany, if you’re looking for a certain food, beer or desserts they got you covered. Don’t be like me and wait years to visit this store, run don’t walk to German Gourmet. You will not be disappointed! Enjoy! ?? ?
