This is typical dim sum style with food on the carts. Excellent and delicious dim sum. The big dining room is loud and crowded but I think it makes it more festive and enjoyable. We had a table of four and sat right in the middle of the room. Only down side is if you want to order tea or off the menu, sometimes it can be hard to track down an available server.

Shocking Experience - Beware of Foreign Objects in FoodOn Sunday, 2/11, to celebrate Lunar New Year, I brought my family and a friend to Hong Kong Pearl, anticipating a joyous celebration. However, our experience turned to a nightmare when my mother discovered a metal piece, resembling a scrubber, in her Lo Mai Gai. To our horror, she had swallowed a portion, causing pain and panic.Distressed, we notified our server, Hong Kim, who promptly took the metal piece away, claiming she would show it to the manager. As we anxiously awaited resolution, our concerns were met with indifference and dismissal. The manager, Megan, was nowhere to be found, and attempts to speak with her were impossible. In the midst of our frustration, Hong Kim returned, offering to remove the dish from our order. Dissatisfied, we insisted on speaking with the manager. When we questioned Hong Kim about Megan's whereabouts, her response was dismissive, directing us to "the manager behind the counter."After persistent requests, a seemingly uninterested staff member, identified as a 'just cashier,' approached our table, callously suggesting, "Call an ambulance and do whatever." When pressed about Megan's location, he claimed she had just left, making her unavailable for communication.Feeling helpless, we left the restaurant to seek medical assistance for my mother. The lack of care, absence of apologies, and overall rudeness during this bizarre incident were unparalleled in my dining experiences.I caution future guests to exercise caution at Hong Kong Pearl. The handling of our situation showcased a blatant disregard for customer safety and satisfaction. In the event of discovering foreign objects in your food, be prepared for a lack of empathy and resolution from an establishment that appears indifferent to its customers' well-being.

We went to this restaurant tonight, 2/10/2024, to celebrate Chinese New Year with my daughter and her boyfriend. This restaurant was recommended by a friend. IT WAS A HUGE MISTAKE COMING HERE!! They made us wait a long time for our food! And the restaurant was not even full! The service was very bad! The waiters & waitresses they just walk by you, you have to practically wave to get their attention & get your order! Even asking for water took 20min; and they are RUDE! Then after 45 min of waiting, I just had to get up and talk to the lady in a red blazer who seemed to be the manager & told her we’ve been sitting for 45min since ordering and our food has not come. The table next to us had ordered for the third time, and that third dish came right away while we haven’t received our first dish! The service is so horrible!! It was only after I gave their manager a piece of my mind, that our food started coming. The food wasn’t even that great! The Chinese takeout near my house have better tasting food. They never even apologized for the lateness of the food! If it weren’t for my daughter, I would’ve left and gone somewhere else! And the height of it all, after paying their overpriced dim sum, this old Chinese guy comes up to you telling you that you have to give them a “tip!” THE NERVE!! This is the first and last time I am going there. I will also tell all my friends and family never to go there. I didn’t want to give them any star! But apparently you can’t put a post without a star. Just know that they don’t deserve a star at all!! Their service is bad, their servers are rude and the food is bad as well!! HONG KONG PEARL IS AN AWFUL RESTAURANT!!!

One of the best places for dim sum. Quality has been declining in a few dim sum dishes over the years though. For example, the char siu buns have gotten smaller and have less meat. They're also putting less meat and mixing in other ingredients (veggies, some type of root etc.) in the spare ribs (páigǔ or pàaih gwāt). It's still our go-to dim sum place, but it might be time to start looking for alternatives. Unlike past years, there seems to be less diversity of dishes too. It makes more business sense, but it leaves you wanting once you've ordered all the basics. Lastly, I can't remember the last time they've had a Lunar New Year lion dance in the restaurant.

Updated: Wonton noodles soup is good. Snow pea leave is fresh and tasty. However, I gave the bbq pork another try, sadly, it’s still dry, tough to chew, and under sugared. It’s hard to believe that the grocery across the street has much better bbq pork. They used to have very good roasted duck and bbq pork, not sure what happened recently, the duck was salty and skinny, the bbq pork was dark and dried.Young snow pea leaves are not so young.Anyhow, their seafood is good and fresh. Most of the Dim Sum dishes are better than other places in the area. Prepare for a long line on Sunday. The egg custard and durian pastries are delicious.

Chinese New Year celebrations have started early, and what better way to explore a culture than food! Checked out this dim sum spot across the street from the Eden Center in Arlington. The wait was over 40 minutes, even though we were told about 20mins. Then almost an hour later, we were told there are no smaller tables available, would you like to share a big table? Of course! That should be an option to begin with, it's a great idea and they should offer this option. By the time I sat to eat, I was salivating, due to the carts of food rolling by with tons of options to choose from. Enjoyed the Clams, Siu Mai was fantastic, Whole Fried Shrimp so crispy, yet not overcooked, Har Gaw delish, Salt & Pepper Pork Chops were amazing! The Soup Dumplings were a bit disappointing, the skin too thick, with stron ginger flavor that I was not a fan of. I will be going back to this spot again to try more items off the cart. 8/10 #dimsum #nichasreviews ##dmvfoodie ##dmvrestaurants #asianfood ##chinesefood
