Visited Mumbai Central at Falls Church and had a really fun experience. The whole place is designed like an Indian train station and train compartments, and it instantly brings back that nostalgic vibe of Indian train journeys. Loved the attention to detail in the decor—names like Rajdhani and Shatabdi on the walls, station-style boards, and cozy seating really make it unique. The food was flavorful and satisfying, and the portion sizes were perfect—not too heavy, not too little. Service was fast, the place was clean, and the staff was friendly. Overall, a great spot if you want delicious Indian comfort food with a cool theme and relaxed atmosphere.
Some quick notes:
* Amazing ambiance with Indian railway decor
* Food tastes great and fresh
* Quick service and attentive staff
* Very clean dining area
* Portion sizes are just right
* Family-friendly and fun concept
* Great place for casual meals and hangouts
Looking forward to going again and trying more from the menu!

Very good place. They asked about allergies and quickly served us, while double checking our order was correct.

This is a 5 star Indian restaurant. The food is outstanding. The restaurant is immaculate. The staff and owner are very friendly. We came for dinner and we had the Mumbai coastal shrimp and Kamal Kakdi Chaat appetizers. The flavor and spices were perfect. We would definitely order those again and they were generous portions. For dinner we had Butter Chicken and Malabari Chicken. Both were excellent. For dessert we tried Mishti Doi. The dessert was rich creamy with perfect sweetness. Overall outstanding and we will be back.

Authentic Indian food. I'd highly recommend this place. Between Bansari in Merrifield and this is probably the best Indian food you can get. We got noodles for the kids, Daal (lentils) Makani (butter) 3.5/5, Chicken Tikka (BBQ) Masala (arguably the most commonly known dish) 4/5, and Malai Kofta (Cream Cottage Cheese) 4.2/5.

Only had carry out so can’t really speak to atmosphere of restaurant. (Entrance is clean and well organized and carry out is well managed).
Have now ordered from here 4 times and each time the food has been excellent.
Dal Makhani, Okra, Chana Masala, Lamb Dhansak (which I’d never had before, garlic naan, vegetable kohlapuri, all were top notch.
Decent portion size, well spiced and attention to detail (whole curry leaves and whole chili peppers in the okra) have made this our new favorite. Have lived in DC off and on for nearly 60 years as well as had Indian food in Singapore, Hong Kong and France and Mumbai Express is a top contender.

I used to live in Chicago and since moving here I haven’t been able to find an Indian restaurant that really hit the spot… until now. Mumbai Central is hands down the best I’ve tried in the area IMHO.
The food is just so good. We ordered the baingan bharta, garlic naan, butter chicken, lamb biryani, the lamb shank nihari, fish tandoori, Amritsari fish, and Ajwain Paneer Tikka. Every single dish was packed with flavor.
Even my toddler enjoyed the food, which says a lot because she’s picky! The portions are generous, the staff is really friendly.
Super happy to have found my new go-to spot for Indian food around here.

Disappointed, all I came for a was a vada Pav, a central street food to mumbai. My Pav was smaller than the to go chutney box, for the price of $10 definitely not worth it. Taste 👎, Vada tasted was more batter than batata (potato).

I rarely post but I have to call out that FC just got a great new Indian restaurant, Mumbai Central, in Idylwood Plaza. The food is fantastic and the staff is super lovely. Portions for the apps are big (ordered 3 bc we had try new things and never made it to the entree). Going back again this week. Highly recommend. Special shoutout to our waiter, Christopher!

Stopped by Mumbai Central to dine in after only grabbing take out here a few times and was delighted! Pani puri was great to start with and the lamb rogan josh was delicious. The decor is set up like a train station and all of the details around the restaurant are very tasteful and so well executed - we sat in a booth where we were encased in a little train track.
The service was exceptional. We had a series of servers come through seamlessly to take orders, clear things off table, replenish drinks, ask about how the food is. The team worked expeditiously and with high care for dining experience.
Was very busy for late evening, so I recommend making a reservation though the waiting area is very comfy.
Highly recommend!

The mojito was subpar and food average. But service excellent. Too noisy and too many people crowded in a small space
