June 22, 2025: Had a delightful experience at Panjshir Restaurant in Falls Church. The food, service, and ambience were wonderful. Definitely will be back.
Worst experience I’ve had in a restaurant, took almost 35 mins for the food, customer service was also bad, and they were very rude and racist. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!!
This is a favorite personal stop for me and my family. We’ve been coming here for years and have never experienced a meal that wasn’t delicious. The food is wonderfully seasoned with tons of character and vibrant colors. The dish can evolve as you move from one side of your plate to another. My favorite dish, the Kadu Palow, is divided into a hearty beef stew, a well-seasoned rice, and an insanely delicious pumpkin. Each part of the dish offers a unique taste profile that goes from beefy to salty to a sweet with some yogurty-tang. It’s crazy how many flavors can live on just one plate and offer new experiences by mixing these taste ecosystems. Their decor is classy and a little fun with little die-cast cars lining the bar. The owner is super nice and always greets our family warmly. The restaurant is a staple in my life and their food has never failed to leave me heading home happy. If you haven’t been here, do yourself a favor and try the food.
We love coming here for Afghan food and friendly service. Last night’s experience reflected past dinners and reminded us why we keep coming back here. Thank you to Esmai and the staff!
Absolutely delicious. Wonderful lunch with no wait. Ordered soup and appetizer. In the late 1980s and 1990s I was a regular customer. Returned to area and will visit often. Want to try more menu items.
Excellent service and consideration. Food was delicious! You should check out this lovely place.
The Cocktails, Appetizer (Bulanee-Kachalu), Entree (Kadu Palow), and Dessert (Baklava) were all very good. Service was excellent.
My favorite Afghan restaurant. Love the pumpkin!

My favorite restaurant. I no longer live in Virginia and recently visited after 16 years away. The restaurant was in a different location, but the food, ambiance, and friendliness (remembered me) had not changed. Best kadu palow!!

We were a larger party of 10 and had made reservations. Our table was ready for us when we arrived and the owner (I think) welcomed us.
Several people had been here before. There are options for everyone. I had the vegetarian sampler, which was delicious and flavorful. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The restaurant has great ambience with Afghan artwork and crafts adorning the walls.
Highly recommend.
