I recently discovered a hidden gem of a Thai restaurant in Arlington, Virginia, and it exceeded my expectations. Intrigued by the chef’s recommendation, I tried the Kuay Teaw Koow Gai, a delightful noodle dish. The flavors were exceptional, and if you’re seeking authentic Thai cuisine, I highly recommend this place for a delicious culinary experience.

I've eaten here a few times now. Very good food. I've done delivery & takeout. Both good experiences. The food was fresh and extremely delicious.

Beautiful and clean interior Good and friendly service Ordered: Fried calamari Panang curry with chicken -chicken pieces were tender and curry had a good balance of spice and coconut milk. Crispy duck basil - I love that the sauce didn't over power the duck and wasn't drenched in saltiness.. Crab fried rice - yummy and aromatic Spicy shrimp basil eggplant - nice balance of yummy goodness ** everything tasted great!

Many will obviously and unfairly draw comparison to this restaurant's predecessor who ruled the scene for 30 years. It is a tough act to follow and of course the original is still best. But the food is not bad, but subjectively maybe not as good as before. My wife and I came in before 8 pm on a Friday night and were the only customers. Not a good look. A gentleman came in 20 minutes after and devoured a noodle dish even before we were done. The decor was classy and a good backdrop for a date night with practically just the two of us in the place. But the music that played was too pop as Bad Bunny and Olivia Rodrigo belted their hits putting a damper and distraction to what would have been a quiet dinner. Perhaps it is what keeps the only server/cashier on her toes. Service though, was efficient and wait times for orders to come reasonable. Beef garlic, crispy duck and squid (take out for our son) and crab fried rice amounted to close to $ 100. That's roughly $33 each for 3 people. This leads you to think, was it worth it or should I have walked a few steps over to where the former owners consolidated their 2 restaurants?

It's best the best panang in town. I've been to every Thai spot and the panang here is the creamiest, thickest, and most complex.

Best wonton soup!! I wish they gave a bigger portion but omg!!! Divine!!! The broth is super flavorful but not too heavy. I'll order 2 portions next time for sure with a side of jasmine rice. The pad see ew is also delicious. It's my second time ordering it and still very delicious and more than filling. Good small establishment ??

This restaurant's ambience is lovely and charming! The lighting is soft and warm and the decor is tasteful. Now about the food. Everything we ordered was quite good! The service is impeccable. I ordered the wrong fried rice and the chef (or manager?) was so gracious to offer to remake it for me, without any hassle. Now that's a class act restaurateur! I'm 200% recommending Mum Aroi, for the food, ambience AND service!

I got the pad thai with beef which was just okay. It was pretty oily and sour but not much flavor other than that. The vibe was nice but when I finished my meal and about to get the check, I saw the biggest cockroach ever. It was at least half an inch big, so I won't be returning to this restaurant.

Trying new/different restaurants. Mum Aroi is located at the former Rabieng's that I enjoyed. This is a fairly small establishment with some overflow upstairs. The decor was updated from the previous. I asked for hot tea and it came with a jasmine tea bag in an enameled metal tea pot. I decided to have the calamari appetizer. The squid was cut up in pieces, instead of the western style of rings, and batter fried. It came with a sweet dipping sauce. The batter was a bit thicker than i cared for. Maybe I should have asked for a spicy sauce? I selected the Spicy Seafood as my entree along with a side of sticky rice. The selection included shrimp, scallops and squid along with Thai basil and sliced onions. The dish was well seasoned, perhaps a bit more salty than I care for. For my taste the dish was only mildly spicy. Should have asked for Thai condiments. Only thought of it when i was nearly finished. I believe this to be a family owned business. The food was well prepared and came out fairly quick. There were 3 other groups there during my dinner around 6 pm. I believe because the restaurant is on a side street people may not see it when traveling Rt 7. The menu has enough choices for appetizers, entrees, and some desserts.

The service was friendly and on top of things. The food was really good. I really like the chicken satay. The sauce was so nutty and flavorful. The pad Thai was seasoned well and the noodle texture was springy. My girlfriend got the drunken noodles and they were really good too.The portion sizes were quite generous and the prices were reasonable. We were so hungry we did not taken any pictures once the food came out!We finished our meal with the mango sticky rice which was our favorite part of the meal.
