Taco Ssam - Bailey's Crossroads (FALLS CHURCH)

I usually go to the location in Annandale to get shrimp tacos, and they’re always great.
Today I was near Falls Church and decided to try that one instead. When I arrived, I asked the waitress if the food was the same as in Annandale, and she said yes, so I ordered the grilled shrimp tacos.

When the tacos arrived, they had a very bitter taste I couldn’t tell if it was the cabbage, the lime, or something else, but it tasted like one of the ingredients had gone bad. I mentioned it to the waitress, and she offered to replace them, but I said no, that I’d rather just go to the Annandale location next time.

After that, I waited for more than 30 minutes to see how they would handle the situation. The waitress called the manager (who wasn’t on-site), and he told me that I still had to pay even if the food wasn’t good that this wasn’t the kind of restaurant where you can refuse to pay if you don’t like the food.

At that point, I decided to leave. As I was leaving, the staff started taking pictures of me, which I found completely unfair and inappropriate, especially after I had waited so long just trying to pay a fair amount for food that clearly didn’t taste right.

I do not recommend the Falls Church location the service was terrible, and the food was bad.
However, the Annandale location is excellent: it’s clean, beautiful, the food is delicious, and the staff is always kind and respectful.

“I was looking for a quick takeout spot when I found this place and decided to give it a try. It was around 3 PM, and even though it wasn’t busy and I was the only customer, they still welcomed me warmly. I ordered three Korean tacos to go — kalbi, spicy pork, and another flavor. While waiting, I asked if I could try their horchata, and holy moly, it was so good that I switched to dine-in and enjoyed all my tacos with my drink. The tacos were super fresh and tasty. I’m definitely coming back. Thank you! 🙏

Friends planned a meetup here. It must be a joke in 2025 where menu doesn’t have vegetarian items. Not even try cater to plant based people, forget vegan. I want to eat here but there is nothing to other.

It’s not Taco Tuesday, but I want something special for lunch. I was in the Bailey’s Crossroads area, so I popped over to Taco Ssam. From the outside it doesn’t look like much, but once you’re inside it’s busting at the seams with vibrant colors, and just makes me remember my vacation years ago when my family and I went to Cancun, Mexico. I was quickly greeted, and shown to a table and provided a menu. The staff was very welcoming, and I told them it was my first time and if they had any recommendations. I was given several options, which made it even harder. Everything on the menu looked and sounded delicious. I ended up going with the Taco Enchiladas, with a side of rice and black beans. There was a robust variety of beers on and off tap, as well as a variety of soft drinks. Within minutes my order was on the table and my mouth watered no more, it was time to chow down. The flavors were a mash of fresh ingredients and a touch of love for the taste and handmade meal. The meal was practically fall off the side of the plate because it was SO much food. I truly enjoy my afternoon of good food, awesome service and excellence hidden in plain sight. If you’re in the area, please consider Taco Ssam, you will not be disappointed. Enjoy!

Great and Quick food awsome flavor

I came to this place expecting a very nice experience because the concept of Korean and Mexican food fascinated me. However, I had a very bad experience. To begin with, the salsa at the beginning was flavorless. I ordered the torta and it was cold. I asked the nice lady to go ahead and warm it up and they did it immediately.
The torta then came out and it was warm but the cheese wasn’t melted entirely which makes it taste weird. Also, the torta look like it was just placed in the grill and turn over twice because it was very oily.

My fiancé ordered tacos that were supposed to have kimchi in them but they didn’t come with kimchi. We rarely complaint about our food because we both have worked in the restaurant industry but this experience was really bad to say the least. Give it a try yourself. Maybe it was just a one-off type situation.
The atmosphere and the music is great! I think the place has potential.

Only complaint is you need to get on uber eats or door dash, especially when Im craving food and dont want to drive lol

I wanted to use the restroom before ordering and dispite of offering to hold the $ as proof that I was a customer/buying, the nice lady refused to let me use it before ordering.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. Last time I stopped by unknowingly 30 minutes before closing to dine in, but, was still treated nicely. Food came out still fresh and hot.

Wow, what can I say? I had to wait a while before posting this because I have never been discriminated against and treated so badly by anyone specially a restaurant managed by immigrants just like me. We all have different cultures and beliefs and we should all respect everyone. I used to come here often because my kids barber is next door..we always went there after their haircut to eat and enjoy family time together, always spending over $100!!
One of my kids is a baby and yes kids do messes when they eat, but I never expected to be disrespected because my daughter dropped food on the floor!!. The incident happened like this, my daughter and I used their bathroom, the toilet barely had force to flush and some paper was left behind, we waited over 3 minutes flushed and still the water wasn't full enough. Waited over 5 more minutes and it was still filling up!! I told my daughter I would send her back in a couple of minutes, and for us to go and eat the food was getting cold.. Then comes the long blond hair lady(the manager) and tell me to go unclog the toilet when I'm done eating!! I said excuse me? First of all why would you come to my table in front of everyone and tell me to go unclog a toilet?? Second of all the toilet is not clogged! Your toilet is not filling up fast enough I waited long enough, I was going back to flush again! But I want to eat before my food gets cold lady! Third...that's the most unprofessional thing I have seen anyone do, on top of embarrassing me, she went ahead and said we always clog their toilet(lie!!) we always leave food allllll over the floor like pigs!!(Lieeee!!-it was one time and I offered to clean with a broom.and they declined) And then she went ahead and called me a bad mother in front of my kids because my daughter did a mess last time. I could notttt believe this lady!! I am the kind of person who always picks up and piles up all the trash and plates in the middle, and the toilet thing had never happened before. I was beyond upset and left, yes without paying, because I had barely touched my food when she came over and disrespected me, and now I was not even hungry to eat!!!. I told her I will speak to and pay the owner to let him know of the bad service she had provided (hoping he would have some kind of common sense and customer service knowledge.. . I went back to the barbershop and was waiting for her owner to arrive. When I saw him I went outside to meet him but Omg, I did not expect the owner to side with the manager of course !!!
he said I was disrespectful, I always leave a mess, etc....he basically sided with her and her lies and said they could not serve me anymore (like I was everrr gonna go back to such a place!!) I will never go back, and if you have kids!! I recommend you not to!! These people are disrespectful and judgmental and do not care about their customers. Worst customer service I have ever experienced!!

It closes very late and the hours are misleading.

Bimibap so delicious. Had a veggie bowl, asked for kimchi but didn’t get it. Ordered on the phone and it’s very loud so hard to get order placed. Also had shrimp, chicken and bulgogi tacos which were enjoyed. I’d love to be able to ask for my fried egg to be runny but there is a language barrier with the staff which makes it hard to be understood. Overall, great little place with healthy and tasty options!

I ORDERED A MARGARITA. MY MARGARITA WAS MADE WITH ORANGE JUICE. I ALSO FOUND WHAT LOOKED TO BE PIECES OF A NAPKIN FLOATING AT THE BOTTOM. THE WORST SERVICE EVER. PLEASE GO TO THE OTHER LOCATION IN ANNADALE. THIS LOCATION IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE GO TO THE ANNADALE LOCATION!!!!
