I’ve lived here in Fredericksburg for 70 years and this place is still the BEST BBQ in Va. I grew up 300 yards from Allman’s, used to collect soda pop bottles to scrounge up enough to buy their BBQ sandwiches ❤️

Very polite servers greeted us upon entering. Refills were offered before asking. Barbecue plates were EXCELLENT! Very much like it used to be years back. Been a customer since 1965!!! However, it's no place to eat at in the hot summer or cold winter (too hot and too cold) ever since the hvac was replaced with the mini splits. Excellent quality and quantity of barbecue. Hope it stays this way! And they invest into the infrastructure and get a real HVAC unit or two. It used to be toasty in the winter and cool in the summer with a real HVAC.Parking: If they are busy you will walk from down the street. NOT ONE DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING PLACE.Wheelchair accessibility: If you get to park in the back lot and they aren't too busy. You can go in with a wheelchair and get a table up close to the doir.

I lived my entire childhood in Fredericksburg and never made it here - don't know why. Glad I was able to stop in for the first time when I came thru town. Loved it. Got the pulled pork sandwich with fries and slaw. Pork was amazing. Not usually a vinegar based sauce fan but theirs was really good. Two other sauces also, both great. Fries not worth it - skip them. But get all the cole slaw. So tasty. I should have gotten a 2nd order. Friendly staff too!!

This Northern VA BBQ hotspot has been at the top of several VA BBQ lists for several years running. Having been around since 1949, it is decidedly local and has that vibe without question. Super casual. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Full service with a smile - pay at the counter after the meal. I did the meats (chopped brisket) +3 with baked beans, mac and cheese, and the stew. The chopped brisket was moist and full of smoky flavor. The mac is unique with huge noodles and a nice cheese sauce and the stew was simply amazing - Brunswick style - just excellent on a cold day. I also went with the bread pudding - hot, gooey, cinnamon roll pieces - almost monkey bread style - really good. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were huge. Pretty easy to see why they were at the top end of some of those lists.
I wouldn't step foot in this place as the owner is an A@@!! He made us leave because of my service animal. I will be reporting him to ADA. Avoid this restaurant at all cost! Not disability friendly!!! I would give zero stars but not an option.In response to your reply. You indicated my dog was not a proper service animal and we had to leave. Just because we ordered him food, it was your perception we were going to feed him at the table. You made assumptions about my dog that were absolutely untrue. You never asked us anything in regards to him. He did not have his head on the table, he had his paws on my husband's lap. The couple across from us were commenting on how well behaved he was. You didn't identify yourself at all when you came out , just told us we had to leave. I am reporting you to the ADA. We will never step back into your restaurant and we're making sure others don't as well. You should have stayed in Chicago.UPDATE: You sir have serious issues! You don't know how to read. His paws were not on my lap, they were on my husband's lap. He had been laying on the floor beside me as trained. You totally handled this wrong and violated my rights. If you received a call it is most likely from someone with a service animal. You offended and violated the disabled community. I'm still filing a complaint. I suggest you pull up the guidelines and read them, as I have. No other place I have taken him has ever treated me and my dog with such disrespect.

I have driven by Allman's BBQ for years, traveling up and down Route 1 from NOVA to NC. Saturday was the day, we finally stopped to give it a try. Funny that this is a BBQ place and we really wanted Hotdogs. This old-time, little place with grandmas kitchen table and chairs for dining wasn't bad. The way the customers came in and struck up a conversation, you knew it was a local favorite. Our server, did not get her name, was such a sweetheart and let us know her favorites. Final decision was 2-Slaw Dogs, which they fry, one with crinkle fries, the other with potato salad. I am not a fan of crinkle fries but these were really tasty and hot. The potato salad was more of a deli style when I was expecting a southern style potato salad. It was good but not what I expected. The hotdogs are deep fried, pretty good for a cheat day. The slaw wasn't bad, I'm used to the vinegar kick and this slaw didn't have it. Will we return? Sure, I want to try the BBQ!
