Bonchon Fredericksburg

Bonchon used to be my favorite restaurant, and I would have given them a solid 5/5 without hesitation. Their Korean fried chicken, street tacos, and steamed buns were always incredible, and their dishes were generally pretty good. However, their rice cakes (tteokbokki) have always been a letdown, tasting overwhelmingly like hot sauce with little else to offer. The main reason for my lower rating is that the quality has noticeably declined. On my most recent visit, the chicken in my buns was inedible—hard as a rock. The food hasn't been up to par for the last few times I've been, and they've even changed the format to a fast-casual setup where you have to order and pick up your food at the counter, which takes away from the experience. I'm only not giving a much lower rating because I still love their Korean fried chicken, but it’s really disappointing to see the place go downhill. For the price you’re paying, it’s just not worth it anymore.

Just picked up my order… got home and the sides were missing, wrong flavors on wings, and wings were extremely dry like we got the leftovers that had been sitting out for a long time. What happened to thingd being made fresh. Never had a bad bonchon experience, i definitely blame this location and we will not be back

UPDATE: DROPPED DOWN TO THREE REALLY WANTED TO JUST GIVE YOU ONE so upsetting BONCHON IM SOOOOOO DISAPPOINTED it has been a while since I’ve been and I was craving yalls chicken ordered strips double crunch what I received was 8 chicken patty’s with no breading very dry tuff like it truly broke my heart fried rice was good but the chicken just killed it for me I’m sooooo sad what happened to you guys 01/31/2025)))).

5 stars because that Soy Garlic is THE BEST chicken I have EVERR had and fried chicken is definitely my thing the fries were also good even cold which means somthing I am upset however that I ordered rice without onions and peppers and was reassured that they could do it and I had to trash it because no one in my family eats it and I was definitely looking forward to trying after hearing such good thing's but the chicken was PHENOMENAL

I love their signature fried chicken and the best Korean fried chicken in town. If your into fried chicken. Then this is your new fave chicken place.

This bonchon location is so great, service is impeccable. My servers name was Ahamad and he was so polite and kept a conversation going. Food was hot fresh and made to order. 100% would recommend.

Staff member was really helpful with my order. I had a unique situation bc I was buying chicken to ship to someone as a bday gift. He was awesome with his suggestions and the chicken I ordered to eat was great as always. I tried the KBBQ flavor for the first time and loved it!

Gentleman at register greeted us immediately and answered all my questions about their chicken wing sauces. We went traditional and wasn't disappointed. Don't come here looking for Southern fried chicken. These wings are deep fried twice and flavor-filled to your preference of sauce. The crunch factor is surprising. The pickled radish on the side had an unpleasant after taste though and I usually enjoy that side. Bonchon is definitely on my must visit again list.

I just called this restaurant asking for help ordering and the man that answered the phone was so incredibly rude and unhelpful. I will not be doing business at this location!

This used to be my go-to chicken spot, but something has happened to the service there. You used to have a waiter and you'd get service. Now it is to-go only, with throw away everything, water in a jug on the side and flies everywhere. And for the rising prices, it would expect a little more and not less. Food is still okay if you are getting to togo but it is not a sit down experience anymore.

When I went inside the restaurant I asked if they only did take out or if they did sit down since the restaurant was empty. They told me I can sit if I want but everything comes in to go containers anyways. I decided to take it to go. My food was out in 5 minutes and it was cold. I ordered a bimbimbap, which if you've had one, you know they come hot. I had to microwave it at home for three minutes to get it warm. There was also no seasoning or flavor on it. They gave me a side of sauce that I mixed in that tasted okay. I was pretty disappointed.

My husband and I have been eating at Bonchon for a while and really enjoy it. The chicken is always on point (my husband is very picky about dry chicken) and the other dishes we’ve tried are always good too.

Tonight he had wings and I had some bao (the fried chicken and pork belly). I usually get the pork belly bao and always love it and today tried the fried chicken bao which was also very good.

In the past we’ve also tried the japchae and the katsu, both of which were also tasty and well made.

They don’t do table service anymore but you can eat it there after ordering. Some people seem salty about this but I’m like in this economy I’m just happy if they stay in business and I can have yummy chicken.

I use to love this place. However, the quality in their chicken has changed. It is now spongey and weird looking. They need to go back to their old supplier because this was disappointing especially for $16 for one meal.
