The perfect little place in Fredericksburg for great seafood choices! The Fried Shrimp is my favorite!!!

Stopped by October 30th to discover a closed sign in the middle of the afternoon. Called the chamber of commerce, and was told the Happy Clam has been closed for about a month.

Incredibly bland food, only the hush puppies were good. I sent back an appetizer and entree after having a bite of each. Server didn't offer to compensate or even ask what was wrong with the dish.

Best local seafood hub in town. But they've closed for some reason. Bummer. We just found them over the past year

The crab dip is a must have, served "burn the roof of your mouth hot" with warm bread, very delicious. I haven't tasted any other dip this good, you have to eat it hot once cooled it's a firm NO. The desserts were yummy, the German Chocolate is my favorite followed by the Key Lime Pie. Now to the entrees, I was less impressed with the majority of the items, scallops were great, hush puppies are thick and tasty. That is all that stood out, everything else was similar to other seafood establishments. I will go back for the dip and get the dessert to go.

Excellent excellent restaurant! Service was excellent, food tasted like good home cooking. Food was very fresh. Crab dip, steamed spiced shrimps, fried scallops, hush puppies were excellent! Price very reasonable. Definitely coming back and this will be one of the places I take my friends and family when they visit.

The hours aren't the easiest on a weekend with traffic but SOOOO worth the wait. The mussels are amazing! Just ask for extra broth. And the crab cakes are super yummy.

Went to visit our girlfriend's new house in Fredericksburg and did a search for seafood and came across The Happy Clam. No need for a super long review m; bottom line .. simply amazing! Customer service, appetizers, main courses awesome! Fresh and tasty!!

What a local gem with super fresh seafood. Pretty large selection and really hard to make choices. Though after some deliberation my craving for crab won out and I ordered up the soft shelled crab sandwich. Delicious and fresh is an easy enough description for this dish , add on a goose island ipa and your set for the night. We also ordered the lobster dip and spicy shrimps for the table , both are easily a must. I will also like the give a shoutout to the most lowkey best hush puppies I have had. Honestly I could order a basket of these and just be satisfied. Really a must check out place in the area for some great seafood.

Great surprise... hidden behind the main row of shops in Old Town Fredericksburg overlooking the river, the Happy Clam was a great experience. Fresh seafood in the display cases for take out or into the adjacent room to sit down and enjoy the delicious fare. Fried or broiled, great selection of your favorites. Only wish I could have sampled more of the menu as the scallops and oysters were cooked to perfection. Don't miss out on the desserts, either... they are fantastic! Recommend the mint chocolate pie, you won't be disappointed. Super friendly staff and quick service. We will certainly make it back our next time in Fredericksurg.

Great seafood and desserts. Be sure and try the cream pies that are home made. Shrimp dishes and soft shell crabs are the best. This is a great place for a nice lunch and the prices are very reasonable.

The service and food is wonderful and DELICIOUS! We had shrimp cocktail as appetizer. Eight very large shrimp - great for two people. Also, recommend the crab cake sandwich which comes with 2 sides. Crab lumps in the sandwich - very minimal fillers. WONDERFUL! Our go to restaurant for lunch & dinner. Not a fancy upscale type of restaurant. FOOD IS DELICIOUS!

We've been here twice, and both times the food was amazing. The crab dip is great, especially if you save some for your hush puppies (which are amazing on their own as well). The scallops were the best we've had in this area. If you like cheesecake, you must try their homemade cheesecakes. The best cheesecake I've ever had. They offer different types, and the raspberry cheesecake has been my favorite so far. Our kids love the homemade strawberry rhubarb pie. You won't be disappointed.
