Uncle Julio's Gainesville Reviews
my rice was overcooked, dry and crispy, no taste. Guacamole had no taste. Taco was good, enchiladas were ok. I just don't think I'll go back. Nit very good Tex Mex food. Wasn't like that 10 yrs ago. Yes been awhile since I was there. When I walked in floor hadn't been swept Food on floor under tables. server was nice. She brought out more rice that wasn't dried out and crisp.
There have been too many changes in their menu. We visited yesterday and you could clearly tell the waitress didn’t know the menu. Before, when we told them how far we had driven to dine with them, they would send us home with a small bags of chips and a container of salsa. Nope, this time it cost me an extra $10.00 for those items. We asked for containers for what we didn’t eat and were brought a small 3x3 paper box that our leftovers didn’t fit in. I have been eating at UJ for years but they keep taking things off the menu or changing them to the extent that the food has been increasingly reduced in taste and quality. Uncle Julio's Gainesville offers very good food, with standout dishes like the banging ground beef and excellent beans. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, making it a great spot for family meals. The patio experience is enjoyable, and the staff, including attentive servers, make a fabulous impression with charm and grace. Chips are fresh and crunchy, and the two salsas are excellent. While some plates may arrive extremely hot, and ice and cold water may not be readily available, the service can be great. Though prices may be a bit high, the food and drinks are consistently excellent, providing an average to good dining experience. Some meals, like the taco salad, are gluten-free, and everything remains fresh and delicious, even close to closing time.
