I work here, so I’m a little partial, but ALOT of our visitors/travelers from out of town say that we’re better than their favorite BBQ place back home! (The ultimate compliment) Our ribs fall off the bone and you can’t beat the prices on our lunch specials especially. I came here to post pics of the menu in the reviews, but just had to share that. :) Come on in and see for yourself!

Pulled pork was awesome. Corn fritters were really good. Nice little restaurant. Very friendly staff. It was a little smokey inside. Smelled good, but if you have respiratory problems, you might want to peek inside before committing. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place.

We got pork loin and brisket platters. Great loin, ok brisket. Outstanding sides. However, the sauces were amazing! Loved the sweet & sour and the mustard especially.
The service was really friendly and helpful by everyone. We'll be back when in the area.

The portions are getting pretty much like a Childs menu. We ordered slaw and Mac and cheese as sides, it wasn't much more than a tablespoon of each. The meat was good, but dry. Service ok.

Ashley was an amazing server and Anthony, while not our server, was very personable. We totally enjoyed our experience. A must do if you are in the area. ~ new fans from Missouri and Kansas 💜

Never fails to satisfy! I live in Mount Airy, NC but when I’m in the mood for this place I do not hesitate to drive here one bit. I LOVE this place. I have came here over the years with friends/ family and by myself at times too. The food is amazing. The atmosphere especially in the summer months are fantastic most of the times the doors are opened to the street side and it’s just something about small town Galax that is just a great atmosphere to be in. Some times there are car shows downtown and you get to see them go by and hear and see the sights and sounds of that as well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND The Galax Smokehouse if you are in the area. Nice staff over the years. I do appreciate you all serving the community over the years. You guys do an awesome job!

Locally owned and operated, the perfect example of a "hole in the wall" restaurant! Something I seek out at home and when traveling! Those are usually the best places with the most friendly staff. And The Smokehouse exceeded those requirements!!

10/2024: Best pulled pork sandwich I've found in Galax. Need I say more? They do have the usual other items on the menu. Good hush puppies. The fried potatoes are like home made potato chips. Crisp and tasty. Bar in the back. I don't want to forget to mention that one whole wall is covered with historical photos of Galax from years gone by. Very interesting.
Parking: This is main street in old town Galax, so on busy days you might have to look a bit to find a space on the street. There is a free city lot about one block east where I have never failed to find a vacant space.
Wheelchair accessibility: Access from sidewalk to restaurant is free and clear. No automatic door but usually the server is hanging around the front door if it isn't really busy. Back entrance into bar has a couple of steps. Many Galax intersections aren't ramped (they are working on this) so getting to sidewalk from street might mean negotiating a curb.
