I've been a long time customer at this restaurant. The food is great, when you can get it done right. This review is based on multiple trips and a lot of wasted time and money. You will have a very very long wait. So do not come in a hurry. If you are patient enough to wait for some food to finally arrive, unfortunately it's usually not made the way you order it. This place isn't worth the time you waste there. And definitely isn't worth the price you pay for it. Considering every time we visit it has slowly gotten worse throughout the years. I do not even see how it is still open.
Parking: Park at the farmers market next to it, I believe this is partially macados parking.

Horrible! Dirty dishes all over tables. Dirty bathrooms. Waited in line to be seated for 20 minutes with the place basically empty. The food took an hour to get. Our waitress only brought out part of the food. After an hour we asked for the rest to be packed to go. I had to literally go in the kitchen where our waitress was hiding to get the rest of our food and get our bill to get out of that place. The food was just ok. I'm done with them!

Food was pretty good but the service was really bad and the music was too loud. If you order the wings expect them to come out 20+ minutes before everyone else’s order. This has happened to me twice here

This was our third and last visit here. The first time they only had one waitress but the food was good, and the atmosphere was great. The second time we didn't eat because the kitchen staff backed up and food was an hour wait. The third time we waited 1 hour and 38 minutes before my three kids started to crack. At that point I put cash on the table for our drinks and we all left. We were not the first table to walk out that night. I would rather eat glass then go back.

This place took 2 HOURS to serve my food 2 WHOLE. HOURS. I'm not even joking that's just ridiculous and the customers next to us got service CONSTANTLY. I dunno if ima come back I'm sorry but 2 hours is just ridiculous for 3 sandwiches a Alfredo and a few sides! And they weren't even that busy why Mac why!?

Literally can’t handle a party of two people or more. Every time any of us have been there it’s well over an hour to get any food. No complaint about the waitstaff at all as they were trying their best with the cooks and the management. Horrible over all experience and it had been that way each time the last few visits. Good luck if you go to each here as it’s is well below par for food quality and standards and their management is right along with them coming up with multiple excuses.

Well, we sat for 1 hour 40 minutes. Drinks were cold, but no food ever came out. So we left and went to the local Mexican restaurant T##########. Food was out 10 minutes after he took our order! Avoid Macados and hit up the local Mexican place with the really long name. It's awesome.
It's been a long time since I have visited such a great restaurant. The food was amazing, our waitress was wonderful and never let our drinks go dry and the atmosphere was stimulating without being tacky. My husband and I will be back!

10/2024: A unique place. Varied menu tending in the direction of high end bar food. I've eaten here several times and found the food freshly prepared with quality ingredients every time. Pretty empty during the afternoon but I'm guessing it gets a pretty good evening crowd. Interesting atmosphere - the walls are lined with music memorabilia and other knick nacks including the largest collection of bobble heads I have ever encountered. Try the home made potato chips. Full bar service. Servers are always friendly and pretty attentive, but I usually am there when business is slow.
Parking: Main street on the edge of old town Galax, so at busy times you might have to look around a bit for on street parking while other times you can park right out front. There are a couple of free city lots on the side streets within a block or two where there are almost always vacant spaces. Can get a little crowded on days when the farmer's market next door is open.
Wheelchair accessibility: Sorry folks, but unless there is an entrance around back that I don't know about you have to go up half a dozen or so steps to get into this place.

The food is great but the service no! We had a group of 6 and it took us well over a hour for 5 of us to receive our food. The sixth person it took a additional hour and by then we had all finished eating and he was starving. Asked to speak to the manager and our two and half hour diner service and they took 25% off his sandwich. That is not customer service, this is the 1st negative review I have ever left as a Google Guide but needless to say very disappointed and will not be returning to Machado's in future.
