Went in first time here with my best friend..I was dressed in dress attire he was in blue jeans and a t shirt. I had met him on my hour lunch break to discuss business. The owner or guy working never greeted neither of us..Except to say your not getting eggs after 10am let's make that clear. Neither of us even said a word about eggs. I Guess he thought because I am half Hispanic he was gonna be Racist and because it was to guys one dressed up and the other not..That we were a gay couple. Well to the Mr Owner of THE GRILL OF GALAX ON MAIN STREET. you 100 percent right!! We are married to one another and if you have a problem with that then get over it..Don't be a homophobe..Try a man you would most likely enjoy it!!

We stopped here because read the reviews. The food and service was good. Not a modern place and mostly a local restaurant. Very limited menu. Burgers are fresh and flavorful.

We've eaten at this establishment a few times over the years on return trips from South Carolina to Ohio. In the past, the BBQ was exceptional. Not this time. Maybe they were having a bad day, but the pulled pork was dry and tasteless and the brisket looked and tasted like it had been prepared without seasoning in a pressure cooker. Not good. To top it off, their cooler was broken, and we couldn't even get a beer to wash the mess down. Hope it was just a bad day, as it used to be a pretty good place.

This small restaurant located right off the main drag features local bbq designed off regional bbq favorites. You can find mention of the Carolinas, Texas, Missouri, Alabama, and Tennessee. I went with the Texas brisket, fried potatoes, and corn nuggets. The brisket was good - pulled version - which had a nice flavor and cooked nicely, not dried out. The fried potatoes were like potato chips, just a bit thicker and obviously cooked with the order and served hot. I wasn’t as big a fan of these as consistency was an issue - some like potato chips, others like oily slightly singed potatoes (but floppy). The corn nuggets were great - i may make them a staple food if i can find any nutritional value at all. The ambiance is small town diner, which was a plus for us. Service was excellent and friendly. Definitely recommend!
Very good pulled pork sandwich with a variety of sauces to choose from. Hush puppies are great as well.

There a good variety of food to choose from. I hit pulled pork and brisket. They were both way too dry. The amount was good but I was so disappointed in the meats it made it hard to enjoy the rest of the food. I would have been more satisfied at a fast food restaurant.

Found this on trip advisor and decided to visit. Was not disappointed. The staff were super friendly and the food offerings had a nice variety of food. We tried a sample plate and was pleasantly suprised with the quality and taste of the offerings which included pork, corn, baked beans, chicken. The banana pudding was also a great tasting desert. Worth a visit when in Galax!

Had a cup of the Brunswick stew, it was very good and the right amount of smoke element. The bbq was ok, slaw bland but enjoyed the baked beans and hushpuppies. Throw in a sweet tea and had a $23 lunch. The waitress was very personable. I always love the old autographed pictures of musical, racing, or just local, legends. The smokey aroma hits you the minute you walk in the door. Not the greatest value, but good eats and you won't leave hungry. If you are about to, add a banana pudding!

Was the highlight of my teenage son's trip! He ate two platters of sloppy joe's. We all enjoyed the food (esp. the hush puppies and the banana pudding), and the service was great. We got extra food to take with us! Too bad we're not in this area often, but next time we are, we'll be back!
