Great winery & music

We stayed here in our RV through Harvest Host but we're only two hours from home and would honestly consider making this a day trip. It's a great spot that's very convenient to the highway. We each had a flight and really enjoyed the wine so we bought several bottles to take home. We sat outside at a firepit because it was an unreasonably warm March afternoon, but the inside has plenty of ambience as well. Definitely worth a stop!

We are so lucky to have this incredible winery close to us! We love working with all the staff at James River Cellars and their wine offerings are sure to please all palates. They have amazing outdoor and indoors spaces for enjoyment all year round. We highly recommend!

Just had an Elevated Tour & Tasting with Sean. It was absolutely fantastic. Sean was a great guide and very knowledgeable about Virginia wine. We really enjoyed our visit and the wine.

I was really excited to come here for their chocolate and wine pairing. The website said it would continue through 12/29. Came today and they said it was over. The ladies behind the counter weren’t very friendly and the atmosphere and decor are bland. Wine was ok but not memorable.

Nice atmosphere- good wine. Good first stop for a date IMO or a quick getaway from dealing with family

We love the winery and our members and spend a lot of time here. Today yes it was windy but by 4pm it is gone and we asked if we can turn on gas fire tables and we’re told I’m a very rude voice, the decision was made today no. We’ll have you ever considered the weather can change and since we came out here at 3 more people! Families with kids are here asking. We can hear they are also disappointed as they are saying … the wind is gone now. Especially when u are very tight in inside seating. Just a thought

My wife and I visited James River Winery 10/28 and we had a great wine tasting experience with Sean. If you love dry wines this place is for you! They have sweet as well but we travel a lot and JRW had a lot to taste for dries and we loved them all. We plan to enjoy the reds we bought during the Ohio winter months.

We love coming here! We moved to Ashland summer 2024 and joined the wine club- we come back almost weekly to split a bottle of wine.

There’s outdoor seating with shade, indoor seating with AC- legitimately anything you could possibly need. Sometimes there is hot food available for order on-site and there’s always cheese & crackers.

Is a nuisance to the area. So loud and very inconsiderate. This place is a waste of time.

Such a classy place has gone downhill and turned into a trash venue. Don’t bother going
