Nobody does it like Ray's. I moved away after HS for college and went on to live in both Southern and Northern California and Tennessee (Nashville) for years, not to mention traveling about the country +'world. When I'm home visiting my family, though, I always hit up Ray's because it's still the best I've found anywhere, not to be missed. I seriously go here an embarrassing number of times a week in the summer, whenever I'm in town. Especially as these summers get hotter and hotter , it's ultimately more of an excuse for me to head to Ray's for a Ray's Rocket. The water ice is delicious and the flavors are fun and tasty. I prefer the citrus flavors, primarily tangerine and lemon, but I've tasted most of them and have yet to taste one I don't like. I get the vanilla custard and it is SOOO good. Best custard ever. Enjoy! I may go tonight now, just because

Similar to other reviews. The product is run of the mill with small portions yet premium prices. I've visited 3 times over the course of a year and each time found the interaction with employee working to be off putting. I walk away feeling like the sooner I go away the better with the last experience ending with who I believe might be the owner literally closing the window on me mid-sentence with a mutter of "have a nice day" or something to that effect. Never a smile, small talk or a thank you...Honestly it's bewildering as a friendly face is small business 101. Well, repeat business 101 anyway.

Excellent service, even better treats! Friendly staff. My only draw back is that they don't accept tips... when I tried to tip a worker, they told me they were not allowed to accept any tips. I sure hope this means they're getting paid a living wage but I'm doubtful.
Rays Italian Ice on Lauderdale is the perfect spot for a summer sweet treat.Just what my wife and baby were craving! We will definitely be back.

Finally made my way to Ray's this past Monday, 7/3 as I am always on the lookout for a good soft serve with topping options. The walk-up window had no wait and we were given fast, efficient service. I had a vanilla cone with rainbow sprinkles and my bf ordered a chocolate milkshake. The shake wasn't much of a shake but more like stirred soft serve. Maybe it needed more milk? My cone was creamy goodness and the sprinkles reminded me of the excitement of childhood! The only problem was the warmth of a 90° plus degree day .. My cone melted VERY quickly, sending a good majority of the sprinkles to the sidewalk below. Too bad they don't have a small space to eat in for days like this one.

Was Not impressed. 2 small custards just over $10 yes I did tell the young girl the chocolate dip sounded interesting but would skip it. She rang it up. Should have spoke up when they handed it to me but had a few customers behind me. No taste at all. Portion size of hand dipped was about a child size scoop.
