I went in yesterday and I ordered fried pork chops with gravy. Mac and cheese yams and cabbage I got home and put it on my own plate. The first problem was the pork chops were not fried. They said they were fried. And that the breading had just fell off in the gravy which is not true. I know fried pork chops. That've been eating them my whole life. Secondly i've never had pork chops that tough in my life They honestly. Taste very old The yam's definitely were at least three days old And then my cabbage Was sour and had gone bad?I informed the owner of took back.My whole did not want to give me a refund How will no longer be eaten there? If he's gonna be so cheap that he don't wanna throw food out that he would just keep reheating old food until it gets sour , never again

As I try to support African American owned businesses, prior to this, Bowman's was one of the ones on my list to patronize.

First, there was only one waitress and she was forced to take care of about 17 diners. While she attempted to keep up, it was overwhelming and the place definitely needs help.

The cooks (?) in the back came up occasionally to bark orders at the waitress and was acting like she did not need any assistance. Later I found out that the owner and his wife were in the back and the two other males were on staff but not helping on the floor. Thus caused delays with drinks, utensils, napkins and vegan the experience on shakey ground.

The owner came out after we were there and waited on our food for nearly 45 mins. When the food came out we all ordered cheese burgers but the cheeseburgers had no cheese! The lettuce and tomatoes were from a salad and not for a burger. The fries were good and warm, however, we had to wait on ketchup and mayo was in small take out packs. No salt or pepper and the utensils were plastic usually reserved for carry-out dining.

Observations: the owner could have greeted us, especially since our party included some dignitaries. Even just an acknowledgement would have gone a long way...

The treatment of his overworked, overwhelmed waitress/hostess did not bode well for us. She was berrated before customers and while she is young, it makes me wonder is his treatment of the wait staff, why they had no other help.

Lastly, the food was mediocre at best. Simple burgers were overcooked and again, we all got cheeseburgers with no cheese.

I will always support black businesses, yet when they can do better, I am compelled to review their poor actions and take an objective analysis for black businesses to do better.

While this dining experience did not make a good impression, and other customers were frustrated as to the lengthy wait time in food, utensils, drinks, etc, there is an opportunity here to redeem themselves.

Needing help, Bowman's should seek out the culinary arts program at Phoebus High School and get kids from their restaurant and hospitality program. They are always in need of OJT apprenticeships.

Secondly, the owner needs to be more friendly towards customers and NEVER mistreat wait staff in front of customers. Especially in a Sunday afternoon when the church folk are looking for a great dining experience.

We spoke to the young lady (Aujunae?) waitress and gave her some encouragement to pace herself to finish the day on a good note.

Again, this was my first experience with Bowman's and I pray these words are constructive. Depending on the response to this review, it will determine whether I come back and recommend their menu.

Not sure if it was a bad day but my cabbage was unseasoned and lacked flavor and my mashed potatoes with gravy tasted old/sour because it’s not what I’m accustomed to when I ever visited Bowman’s. The salmon cakes were okay but I’m not sure if they didn’t add onions in theirs or what.

Absolutely Amazing! Good food, ambiance and service. Tried the honey Cajun catfish and fried pork chops. Both were cooked to perfection. Our server Anjanae was friendly, personable and professional. Will definitely be back again!

Absolutely the best ribs I've ever had and I'm a man from Kansas City saying that. Corn bread, mac and cheese, and sweet potato casserole and to notch as well.

The restaurant in general was fine, my issue would be a miscommunication from what is menu price and a random board price. The happy hour price on the printed menu was $7 on some random board. There was a price of $8 for the same drink. It would be fine, but the server and the manager handled it like they had no restaurant experience. It's a freaking $1, have some customer service. It might be a dollar..but I am not recommending this restaurant to ANYONE!

I ordered a 4 piece whole wing meal and a rib meal. I requested yams and Mac for the wings and collards and fries for the ribs. I got home and opened 4 of the plainest bland wings I’ve ever had in my life. Not a single ounce of flavor. To top it off the wings were packed with greens and fries. While the ribs were packed with yams and greens. So not only is the food bland it’s also not what I ordered. Terrible experience. The soul they attribute themselves with having by their restaurant name was nowhere to be found anywhere. Not a single good thing.

My family and I had an awful experience. The ordered burgers were supposed to have melted cheese, but they were plain when we received them. We informed the waitress, and she told us that they do not come with cheese, although the menu says otherwise. My macaroni and cheese was cold. The waitress was serving both take-out orders and seated customers. She did not have time to refill our drinks or address our concerns. My son-in-law refilled his drink. The owner stepped out to speak to other customers, but we were ignored. I have been to this location before and assumed that my family would enjoy it, but I was WRONG. ALSO, we waited 30- 45 minutes for our food to come out, although there were very few people inside the restaurant.
