Today July 9th at about 12:40pm I had an experience of dining at Charlotte’s: A Simply Panache Cafeteria. I meet up with my Sister that was visiting from out of town. I was very excited because I had the pleasure of visiting Mango Mangeaux maybe about 3 maybe 4 years ago. I was raving about Mango Mangeaux to my Sister, but the wait was to long for Mom. We went to Charlotte instead and I was excited at first because I said to myself that they should have the same great ambience and delicious food as Mango Mangeaux. NOT SO BY A LONG SHOT! The ambiance was nice but the food was left much to be desired. I tried not to get disappointed when I first walked up to get my food, seeing that the food looked dry and some was just undesirable, there was no light to see the food that they was serving you. The nice ladies did take the time to explain everything. After we picked out our food we went back to our table with Over baked seafood lasagna(or should I say hunt for the seafood lasagna),over cooked baked chicken, fried chicken that was undesirable, (how can you mess up fried chicken) fried catfish cold and not tasty at all, baked cod fish ok according to my husband but cold, most of the hot food brought back to my table was cold, black eyed peas no flavor, cabbage terrible, mashed potato’s and carrot soufflé was ok. I was not going to speak to the manger about anything and just move on. You know, been there down that! But my husband ask if he could just have the baked cod warmed up a little. It looks as if they may have been a little short handed so we waited and waited then finally the manager came over. I really was not satisfied with the baked chicken and the cabbage so I asked what could be done. The Manager told me that the cabbage is not the traditional cabbage that I would taste in any other place because of how they make it. (with Thyme and other seasoning) (By the way my cabbage is not traditional either but it taste really good though) also the baked chicken was made with thyme. She also expressed that she could change my vegetables but not the chicken because my taste buds where not to used to there chicken. Wow! what a response! Well my taste buds are not used to BAD FOOD. The chicken I had was overcooked and pastee. Most places try to accommodate the customer but if they already have your money don’t expect to be accommodated. This place for me went from Been There Done That-to- BEEN THERE NOT EVER GOING BACK!!!!! I am just so sorry my sisters from out of town (NY Where there is plenty of good places to eat)had meet us there and their food was not good as well. Please, please, please stop assigning flies to each table in the place, does not make a great dining experience!!! So sorry I went. Had a better dining experience at Denny’s about a week ago!

Purchased seafood lasagna, with a side of cabbage (too greasy), and Texas garlic toast. I drained about a tablespoon of oil from my side dish.1.) Food: [1-5] 1 Food was cold and overcooked2.) Decor: [1-5] 5 Ambience and decor: beautiful, clean and vibrant.3.) Price: [1-5] 1 Quality of food and portion size does not match pricing.4.) Customer service: Understaffed; polite and professional. However, food was not hot! My party and I (total of 6) were at Charlotte's before the door opened and the food, (fried chicken, baked chicken, seafood lasagna, spaghetti, and the meatloaf) was cold and dry (too much heat lamp on food)***Charlotte's Cafeteria is a hit or miss. Unfortunately, my dining experience today was a miss!!![1-5] 3Overall score: 2.5

Not the best experience. We were among the first to arrive on A Sunday. The food was cold and looked as if it had been there all day. I was with 5 other people and nobody really was happy with their food. The service was pretty good and it is a nice atmosphere but the food has to get better.

The food is pretty good but they never open on time. They need to be more respectful of peoples time when many are trying to support the establishment on their lunch break during the 11:20-noon timeframe.

Very nice atmosphere!! I love the different entertainment offered here. It's a very sophisticated vibe. I wish the menu had more selections, but what is available is pretty good. The bar is on point.

The decor is inviting and beautiful. I love the bathroom decor. Food ok expensive. The food was warm not hot. Try it you may like it. My husband had the liver and he enjoyed his meal. I had fried flounder. Fish need to be hot out the grease or oven.

I was vacillating between 4 and 5 stars for this latest restaurant offering from the company that brought Mango Mangeaux a block down the street. I went with 4 stars this time but could be inspired to bump it up next visit. This eatery is open very reduced hours, Thursday thru Sunday from 1130am to 5pm. We got there at noon and followed a large group in the door. None of us were sure where to go exactly, but had I not been stuck behind them it would have been easy to figure out. Basically there is a large, beautifully appointed dining space with lots of seating configurations. This is not an all you can eat buffet. This is a cafeteria. Everything is a la carte. You approach the glass food cases, grab a tray and silverware and wait for one of the staff to offer you your choice of salads - I saw a pasta salad, fresh fruit, and the fixin's for a tossed green salad. We opted for the fruit salad and the tossed green salad. Then we approached the entree case where I spied liver and onions, meatloaf, baked chicken and some other offerings. The special of the day was a mango sauce pork chop. My friend opted for the pork chop and I got the liver and onions. The liver portion was huge - two large pieces of liver which was very tender and tasty. My granddaughter got the mac and cheese which appeared to be very cheesy and of the homemade variety. She ate all of her fresh fruit and some of the mac and cheese, which is more than she has eaten most places we go. I did not get any food photos as I forgot until we were well into our meals. There were some bread options including corn bread muffins. I got one that came with a small dollop of butter and it was sweet but not anything special. There was only one dessert option that I saw that looked like sweet potato pie and we passed on it. Drink options include sweet tea and mango lemonade. I would love if they offered the mango iced tea they have down the street. I did not see unsweet tea which is my drink of choice. Now to the reason I went with 4 stars. I had no idea what I was getting, what came with it, and how much it was. I paid for the pork chop, liver, salad, fruit, corn muffin, mac and cheese and 2 drinks and it came to about $35. That seems very reasonable and certainly not shocking. But I could not tell what the offerings were as they were not labelled, I did not know what came with sides and what didn't, and after the fact I noticed a very small sign about a children's meal, and found out it is spaghetti, bread and a drink for $4.99. I would really like to have the various options clearly identified and know the prices. I believe prices are posted on very small signs but not in a way that caught my attention or made sense to me. I am just one of those people that likes to know what my options are and know what I'm spending. Call me quirky that way. Limited hours must meet some demographic they are hoping to reach, perhaps the Sunday after church crowd fits perfectly in those hours. Still, a cafeteria concept can work and fill a niche in the revitalization of downtown Phoebus. Depending how long the serving line gets, because standing in line is not how I like to spend my meal time, I would like to give this eatery another chance soon!

The food is delicious! The staff are friendly and ready to answer any questions you may have about any of the dishes being served. I tried the carrot souffle for the first time assuming I wouldn't like it and I was pleasantly surprised. The Hummingbird cake was also a winner. It was moist and met all my expectations! I loved the vibe and atmosphere of the restaurant. Can't wait to go back and try new dishes!
