Should be call “Poo Bar and Grill”. This was the worst restaurant experience of my life! We show up and the waiter, who I assume was the owner, has the audacity to tell us what a treat we were in for. Our party of 7 all orders and he comes back to tell us that they’re out of grits, no problem it happens. 3 people had to re order. They were providing food for a wedding so they were backed up which wouldn’t have been a problem if he was just honest. We waited over an hour for food and nothing came so we just left. Did anyone come over to check on us to see how we were doing and apologize for the wait? Not once. We had to go find him if we needed something. Also as they were getting ready to plate the food in the window I saw one of the chefs vape all over the plates that our food was supposed to go on. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!!! I oughta call in a health code violation. If he was brazen enough to vape in plane sight I have no doubt he was vaping all over our food as they were cooking. Another thing, if I had a restaurant of people waiting for food for over an hour I would be hustling like you wouldn’t believe to make sure everyone got what they ordered as quickly as possible. Every time I looked it seemed like they were moving at a snail’s pace. When I asked how much longer it would be he said “they’re plating it now, it shouldn’t be long. 15 minutes later, still no food and at that point we left. I have written probably 2 or 3 reviews in my life and this experience was so bad I had to say something. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. They definitely need to clean they’re act up. Absolutely disgraceful!

A cute quaint space. I was invited for a birthday dinner. When I got to the establishment I realized seating was limited. The owner, who couldn't stop telling everyone his birthday is Monday (8/19) said he would take care of us. There are signs posted that mention an extended wait time for items being prepared. But when we were seated, had to rearrange our own table (again after being told we'd be taken care of) and waited 45 minutes for WATER. That we had to pour ourselves and didn't even bring enough the first time. We ordered a kool aid margarita. It never came. After waiting an hour the owner, aka the bday boy told us he was waiting on the kool aid to be prepared. We watched him pour nothing but mixers in the tower ordered, and proceeded to say it was wild berry 🫠😂. Funny guy. Did I say he mentioned he'd take care of us? Our food did take a long time and it was very good. Well seasoned and piping hot. I will always give props when they are due. But as for my overall experience, I'd never go back. We split the bill and paid. Tax and gratuity added. Birthday boy charged us $65 for a tower of juice. When asked about taking care of us he then offered shots which we all declined. We split our bill and was charged tax and gratuity again. When asked why we weren't able to add a percentage of the tower to each check he was unable to answer. He said that's how this goes. I asked about paying in cash, I was unable to receive a discount as the square he uses is an extra fee. All of our orders were wrong, even with almost everything being sold out. I'm not quite sure why he kept inviting us to brunch when dinner was nothing but comical. We made the best of it but Roux will never get any business from me again. This isn't to tear anyone's business down. Use this as constructive criticism.
I ordered the cajun honey fried chicken w/ corn fritters and greens and for the appetizer alligator bites. Every was delicious and cooked to perfection the gator bites could use less salt but other than that I recommend the food. I did however take a star off because I waited an hour before leaving to pick up(DoorDash time) when I got there they told me 5 more minutes and that turned into 30 minutes…… every unacceptable the wait time

Just left Roux Raw Bar & Grill — a black owned, black operated, black CHEF’d 🔥 spot. It was our first time trying it and we decided on the crawfish etouffee 🦞 raw local oysters 🦪 + kids meal and drinks. EVERYTHING WAS DELISH! Shoutout to Chef Charlton Minor for the excellent service and suggestions! If you’re in the Hampton Roads area, check them out ❤️
Walked into a dark dive bar which was supposed to be a Cajun New Orleans inspired restaurant. Clearly they were still under construction some paint needed to be done.I did have my mini poodle who was resting quietly as he typically does. We were approached by a gentleman and a t-shirt jean shorts white socks and Nike slides who asked us for our phones. Me and my sister were very confused he then asked me to take my dog outside. The gentleman had yet to even greet us, thank me for my service as a service member, and it is memorial Day weekend, give us a menu or anything. The taste and music was very inappropriate for brunch hours I felt like I was riding in some dope boys car down the boulevard and my server look like he just woke up from playing NBA 2K all night threw on whatever he had on the floor and came to work. It would have been nice to know his name, what the restaurant offer to eat, or even a fleur-de-lis painted on the wall considering it was supposed to be New Orleans inspired. I didn't even see the gentleman in the kitchen with a chef's coat on or any type of covering for his head. I don't know where everyone else has been but it could not have been to the same restaurant that I went to today. As a minority-owned business we have to do a much better job of representing properly. I chose to leave and go to first watch where my experience was remarkable. If you want to go smoke hookah at night dance on tabletops this is the place for you but if you're looking for real New Orleans food customer service and class this is not it.

Went there for the first time last week and Chop is the man! The catfish with the yams and okra was hot and fresh! The guava drink was delicious and we got topped of as soon as the drinks were low. The hospitality was very well received and genuine. Can't wait to check out brunch and to enjoy more great food!! Also looking forward trying out the desserts whenever they come back online!!!

We went here on the day of reopening and the food was amazing! I got the honey maple fried chicken with greens and Mac n'cheese with peach sweet tea. This was one of the best meals I've ever had. I will be going back regularly to try the rest of the menu. Chop was welcoming and a great host.

So it’s pretty small and newly renovating so it’s not enough seats. But they played good music. I think this is more of a lounge vibe. It’s a little much for my vibe they was smoking and rolling inside the restaurant. Sanitation wise it wasn’t up to standards I didn’t see people washing their hands or wearing gloves when coming back into the kitchen. No hair net was worn a guy kept touching his hair and flipping his hair because his Locs kept getting in his face. And when I told the server and the server spoke to him he had I don’t care attitude and didn’t put on gloves or wash his hands.i really wanted to just leave but I also was conflicted because they cooked most of it and I wanted to support a black business.I bought the fried catfish which was good. The fried okra seemed to be prebreaded so I wasn’t big on that. The cabbage was flavored well. The fried deviled eggs was really good. The fried shrimp was salty wasn’t that good. The fried cheesecake was just fried cream cheese because that’s what it taste like. The guys outside assured me and give them another chance and to come to brunch Sunday and they would work on their sanitation. I tried to come back with a friend for brunch to give them another chance and it was worst the second day it was so packed you could barely walk in it smelled like weed and was very loud.No where to sit because they only have two tables and a bar. And the food didn’t look appealing on the bar. We walked right back out.

It's always a good vibe when we go here! Food is always good, drink be hitting!
So upon arrival it took almost 10mins for someone to acknowledge I was standing to be helped. Then I order my food which was the oxtail and the guy said it come with rice and two sides cool fine. I paid $30 for my meal I mean it is oxtail so I wasn’t complaining. I get home to dig in excited to try someone else’s oxtail because I am Jamaican. Three oxtails and I couldn’t find the rice. I lifted one of the oxtail and it was barely any rice. This was so upsetting for $30 I get three oxtails barely any rice and everything tasted very salty like the salt top came off and fell into the pot. The greens salty cabbage salty and oxtail salty. I couldn’t even eat it had to throw it away. I was looking forward to trying this place cause I e never been plus I haven’t eaten all day and it was 8pm when I went just to still not eat. I wish I had something good to say just from my first experience.

I drove from Williamsburg specifically for their shrimp and grits. I was impressed by literally everything from the best shrimp and grits in the 757 to the staff that was absolutely incredible and welcoming. I will be making that drive specifically for this restaurant as much as possible.
