One of the best views in Hampton/Fort Monroe and I always forget about It. If you are a fan of outdoor dining, this os right on a marina with views of the HRBT. The outdoor seats aren't the most comfy, but the food is outstanding. It sounded pretty loud inside. Probably the best crispy clam strips I've ever had. We shared the 2 seafood combo and had amazing flounder and shrimp (we added the clam strips as an app.) Everything was fantastic.

I want some more! Perfectly crispy chicken, even the shrimp was poppin'! The Mac, the kale salad, the frozen strawberry, just good to the last drop. Ate the leftovers 2 days later and it was still bangin'!

I’ve been coming to Dead Rise whenever I can for over 6 years. The menu has always offered a nice variety to satisfy seafood cravings, and the views outside are always beautiful. The fans, the atmosphere—it’s always been an amazing vibe.
I’ve never had an issue with service. In fact, my service today was top tier as always. But the food quality has significantly declined.
I paid $36 for a dish that had no more than 4 shrimp, which were heavily peppered and soaked in butter. The crab and scallops were also disappointing. The vegetables tasted like they came straight from a frozen bag, and the potatoes had no flavor at all—no seasoning, nothing.
I didn’t even finish my meal. I just asked for a box so I could take it home and season it myself. While sitting outside, two different groups leaving asked me how my meal was. I told them it wasn’t as good as it used to be—and they agreed, sharing that they had to send some food back.
At the end of the day, I feel like I only paid for the service and the atmosphere, not the food. Really, really disappointed because this used to be one of my favorite spots.

We are frequent visitors here and always love the food and always have a great experience with service. Tonight was different. Our server was short with us, like she was mad that she had to deal with us. We never got silverware, had to ask for napkins and drink refills and she just rushed us out of there. We did show up an hour before they close but that is plenty of time for us to eat and have a good experience without her being so short with us. I dont know her name cuz she never told us, because she was so mad that she had to deal with us. I'm a server and we are great customers, and nice people. My husband continuously said thank you and she was so rude and just said yeah. It was our last night in town because we are moving and chose to go there as a final farewell. Then got treated like crap by our server.
First the wait was 30 minutes because they were short on staff. Then we were told it would be a while longer because she needed to rest the kitchen.
Got seated, a dozen tables on only three had customers. The wait staff was great. Ordered a two item basket with shrimp and crab sticks. The basket also came with coleslaw and fries, (and boy was there a lot of fries) The food was good but I only get a few shrimp and a few crab sticks but I got a basket full of fries. My wife got a shrimp basket and got have the fries I got.
It was 7:30 and the restaurant doesn’t close until 9:00. Remember a dozen tables inside and a dozen outside only 3 had customers inside. We listen to the hostess tell two different sets of people that they couldn’t serve them because they wouldn’t get the order before they close. Both parties were mad but the hostess never changed. What happened to you serve all the up to closing.
The bill was $75 for two people and not worth half of that.

Ate lunch here today and sat outside. What a view! The flounder was crispy and cooked just right. I really liked the crab dip as well, it was light and tasty. The service was friendly as well.
Just ate there again...and once again amazing food. Had the crab cake this time and it was just perfect!
