Mediterranean Restaurants in Harrisonburg

“My husband and I recently dined at Illyria for our anniversary while in Harrisonburg for the weekend. I had found Illyria while searching online for nice restaurants for this occasion, and any expectations we had about this restaurant were certainly exceeded in every way. We were greeted warmly and presented with menus thoughtfully preprinted with ‘Happy Anniversary’!

Our server Sean was very welcoming, friendly, patient, astute in answering our questions about food and wine, and genuine in making excellent recommendations. We had the grilled octopus for our appetizer, which was outstanding and beautifully presented. My husband had the duck breast and said it was some of the best duck he’d ever tasted. I had the whole grilled branzino—my favorite fish—and it was absolutely remarkable in both presentation and flavor! It is evident that the chef and his staff are quite skilled and turn out nothing short of exceptional, high-quality food.

Illyria has a lovely, ambiance, with tasteful, muted décor and very comfortable seating. Even though we dined there on a Saturday night, we were fortunate to have had the back half of the restaurant to ourselves because of the later hour. This restaurant is classy and superb and I cannot recommend it enough. I’m disappointed that we live too far away to dine at Illyria regularly, but we will certainly return there if we’re near Harrisonburg.“

“One of my favorite restaurants in Harrisonburg. I grew up eating hummus and falafel, and the hummus here is maybe the only one I’ve ever liked as much as or better than my mom’s. The family who run the restaurant are so nice, and the food is incredible. My favorite is the chicken shawarma salad with cilantro lime dressing and a side of hummus. Yummmmmmm. Also they just recently renovated and redecorated the dining room and I think it feels much lighter and more spacious.“
