I love this little deli and the mall it is in. My only complaint is that they don't have corned beef sandwiches, but they allow you to order custom sandwiches - so I ordered their pastrami on rye and it was delicious.I was late in picking the meal up, yet when I got home, the sandwiches were still warm to my delight. The pastrami was nice and tender, didn't tear the rye bread apart and had the perfect amount of brown mustard.I am looking forward to trying other sandwiches on their menu.
Ethel's is outrageously, stupendously expensive and overpriced for what you receive.$20+ for a sandwich and fries is robbery. Is it good? Yes, but it certainly isn't $20+ good. It is also not very consistent, sometimes it's good, and other times it's mediocre which isn't acceptable for the prices you pay. The first time I went I had the best French dip I've ever had in my entire life, it was so good I went back the next day and ordered the same thing and it was awful. How??? I think the owner made my sandwich the first day and he was super friendly, some kid made it the second day and didn't even have a 1/4 of the meat on it and definitely not the 1/2 pound as advertised. The store also has a major ventilation problem that needs to be solved. For the amount of money that they charge, they should be able to install a hood vent that clears the whole damn space of smoke. If you spend more than 10 minutes in here you're going to smell like a greasy diner for the rest of the day.
The hostess greeted us with the friendliest smile. Talked me through the menu of all the wonderful choices. We got between breakfast and lunch and this was the perfect time since there was light flow. My son orders Door Dash through here all the time and was eager for me to try it. I ordered the Cubano with a side of fries and it was made to perfection. It's a lot of food, so we ordered takeout. There is indoor seating as well as outdoor. It seems to be a neighborhood favorite for HPD as well, so it makes you feel safer. It's in a great part of Haymarket that makes you feel like you are in New Orleans! I cant wait to introduce the rest of the family to it.
Super delicious cheesesteak. Soft yet crusty roll, well portioned. Friendly staff. Finely chopped steak, was able to customize slightly.
The food was amazing! I had the Ruben and asked them to put it on the pretzel bun. It was everything I hoped it would be!! They don't skimp on the portions, and they make an excellent milkshake! It's hard to find a restaurant that serves tater tots. They do, and they do them right!
Service was fast and friendly, I brought the LA street dog & OG /halfsmoke a little pricey but well worth it, it was delicious.
The food is not what it once was. Ordered the Steak and Cheese and turkey club. The turkey club is a plain turkey sandwich, bread is not a true club sandwich. The steak and cheese ... minimal Steak and Cheese. We have dined there before and the food was not comparable to the blast visit.
Highly Recommend!!I have eaten here many times and have had all their hot sandwiches, burgers, and breakfast sandwiches. All their food is great and service excellent. Probably not the healthiest.but very delicious. BONUS: They have a nice assortment of very unique beers and sodas AND the previous EUGENES deli w/famous sausages has returned on the menu. Can't go wrong with the Danger dog IMO!
Eugene's was a favorite of mine, and when combining with Ethel's at this location, my favorite menu item was removed. That said, I've already found a new favorite in Ethel's cheese steak. Delicious. The outdoor seating is very comfortable but I hope you like country music.
So as you can see. I purchased the Cubano but without the roll. I am trying to lower my bread/pasta intake. To food was above and beyond amazing. The gentleman who took my order was so kind. The pork melted in your mouth. Tender and moist. The ham was very flavorful. All around this is a must visit. As you can see though, we did have a KAREN in there as well. Woo boy could she complain.Let me make sure everyone knows. This is top shelf food. Don’t let the 15 dollar sun price scare you away. Even without the bread and no sides I am full and content. Thank you again Ethel’s NY deli.

Wanted to try this spot after seeing a few pictures of their food looking bomb and was not disappointed! their steak and cheese sandwich is amazing and delicious! Love melted cheese all over. can't wait to go back and try their other sandwiches.
Average food and above average prices. We went to Ethel’s expecting to be impressed but it let us down. Food was good but not amazing. The prices were ridiculous for what we got. Three sandwiches, no sides and no drinks for $50. Never going back.
Chef Todd makes fabulous food and the staff are really friendly. I asked for a Reuben, when they wanted to know did I want corned beef or pastrami, I wanted BOTH. That was the best Reuben sandwich I've ever had.The hand cut herbed French fries are fabulous.Chef Todd came out to our table on the patio to visit. We took home some NY bagels and rugulah for nosh the next day.I've been recommending Ethel's to everyone.Waiting to see what my new co-worker from NY thinks, but I have every belief he find a little piece of "home' in this gem. Thanks, Chef Todd!!!!
Heard good things about this Deli place so my wife and I decided to give a try. It was okay not the best. Fries were good.
Went to Ethel's for lunch. My husband got the patty melt, I got the Ruben. The sandwiches were delicious and large. We also got the cheddar cheese and bacon fries. The cheddar cheese is basically nacho cheese, they were just ok. My only complaint is that inside the restaurant was super smoky, and you walked out smelling like a grill. Very limited seating.
