Absolutely horrible experience. Bad customer service. Went for high tea. They charged $49+ per person including my 7year old granddaughter for 5 pastries and a grocery store brand tea! Macarons tasted stale per my granddaughter ( yes, they did). Pastries were mediocre at best. It was pouring down rain that day so I asked for a box and bag to take the leftover pastries home. Waiter refused a box telling me he would have to charge for it. I just paid Over $100 and they couldn't give us a box?!! Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.

The Macaron were average, nothing to brag about. I guess I'm just used to Hummingbird Bird's were you can taste the the flavors. These were just boring and not worth the price. The service kinda threw us off, also the cashier, She removed the samples off the counter, like she thought we were going to take all of them! What in the world!! I paid and hurried out! Praying that Hummingbird will reopen soon!!

This was the most unwelcoming experience. The owner (assuming she's the owner) was teaching a class, and made it seem like we were inconveniencing her by wanting to order. Any good owner would do everything to make their customers feel welcomed and wanting to come back. Not the case here, we got our mediocre drinks and got the heck out of there. Not to mention the desserts were outrageously over priced. $4.50 for a single macaron? Even Ladurée doesn't charge that much. Customer service was incredibly subpar. Save yourself the trouble and skip this place.

Do not attend a class. Save your money. We attended a baking class at Macaroon Tart to learn how to make French eclairs and some French cookies. The 2 hour class was 120 dollars a person and this would not be an issue if the class was beneficial, but it was far from that.First, the class began with no explanation of the techniques or type of dough we were going to make. There was no example of a finished product to reference, but worse…no recipe to follow. We were told we would get the recipe but never did. After the class the owner/instructor looked for a recipe but could not find it and told us she would text it to us later. Haven’t received it yet. Also, the class ended up being less than 1.5 hours and we were quickly rushed out.Second, she left the class at least eight times to help customers coming in and left us in the class to wait on her or just guess what to do next. If holding a class , someone else should manage customers. Student are there to learn and be taught. She spent more time helping customers than in the class. Then, the class only had four students, so should have been a great small group to work with and get more focused attention. This did not happen. The set up was only set for two work stations. We had to take turns preparing the pastry. Each paying student should have their own items and have an opportunity to do everything from start to finish, not only half. I even had to go find my own knife and spatula at one point. Even worse, near the end of the class we were supposed to dip our eclair tops in chocolate. We were waiting for her to return in order to do so. She quickly comes and makes a ganache (not a good one either, it was not mixed and way too liquify and fell right off the eclairs), she doesn’t even explain what she is making is a ganache or give measurements. Thankfully I know what a ganache is and that was what she was trying to make. The she puts the ganache still in the hot double boiler on the workstation that I am not at and leaves again. I’m thinking she is going to come back and make more or give us some chocolate and cream to make a batch for our station, but she does not. We waiting for a for her for awhile before I decided to take my and my workstation partners pastries to the other work station and shared their chocolate with them in order to dip our eclairs.During the piping of the eclair dough onto the pan, my workstation partner and I run out of room on the pan. So I go get another pan and parchment paper and finish piping our dough (again she is not in the class when this happens). Upon her return she comes to our work station and tells us we are not allowed to do that and that we only paid for a class to make enough for one pan. She makes us scrap the dough from the other pan and combined it with the already formed pastries from the first pan. So needless to say our pastries were not uniform in size and were ugly. I don’t understand why she did that as she was not opposed to us using all the dough, she just didn’t want us to make more than what fit in one pan.Lastly, she was rude. During the beginning of the class when she demonstrated piping, one of the students got close to her workbench to see what she was doing (mind you the student was a 10 year old little girl excited to learn how to bake) and the owner told the little girl yo back up and go back to her area. It was not easy to see what she was doing. When it was time to put our pastries in the oven, she told us to go wait out in the lobby. We were not offered anything to drink or eat. Then I witnessed her being rude to a customer. A customer asked for caramel tart, and specifically asked for the second tart (there were only 4 tarts so it’s not like she had to dig for it) she told the customer no he could not choose the one he wanted and just had to take the one he was given. The customer was taken back and said nevermind then, that he didn’t want anything. He was not rude, but she proceeded to be rude more.Terrible experience. Don’t waste your time or money

Been here quite a few times including today. My daughter and I go about every 2 weeks to get a box of her favorite macarons and something new for me. The couple running the store are always warm and welcoming and remember us as well which we like a lot. Never had any negative remarks or tone/attitude issues from them. I highly recommend this place. At first my family and I didn't see what was so special about macarons because we would always buy them pre-made but once we had fresh ones we have been hooked every since.Kid-friendliness: Always nice to my daughter and they even have a kids camp that I've been thinking about sending her to.

I won’t go into all of the details, plenty of other people have. My issue really was the tone of voice and honestly just mean vibes going on in there. I have been in multiple times and have noticed that the amount of things ordered = how I can expected to be treated while there. I would recommend some therapy for the owner, for those who are clients as well after their visit. Just kidding about the second one but you only live once please learn to heal and be nice.

Whoever answered the phone when we called was extremely rude. They were not accommodating at all. The website states you can call and order or walk in. We tried to call and order, and they us, "We don't do that. Sorry man." and abruptly hung up. According to the reviews, the pastries aren't good anyway. So I'm glad we saved our money. It's not hard to be kind.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. They are extremely rude and not accomodating. Their website states that you can call and order individual items, but the person who answered the phone said, "It doesn't work that way. Sorry man" and hung up ubruptly. It isn't hard to be kind.

Really yummy. The apricot and pistachio tart was spot on. The macaroni assortment was minimal when we arrived near closing. So go early. Pricey but tasty. Real butter! :-)

This is an local own pastries in the heart of Town Center VA Beach and own by Elena. She was so accommodating. We did tried the macarons, danish and and chicken croissants. I must say the chicken croissants was so delicious!. The ambiance is a French style. She also offers baking baking class, QR code is attached if you're interested . We probably go back here.
