This was first time trying them, but it won't be my last. I ordered the Cilantro Chicken with black beans and green rice. It was soo delicious ?. I also ordered the Half Chicken with fried rice and plantain. The half chicken was very flavorful and the fried rice was really good. The black beans were very good. I would definitely recommend this place ?

Customers beware. Let me start by saying that the food is great. However, this place is ripping people off by charging for a side which, according to the menu, should be included on some items - Chopped chicken, Lamb Gyro etc. I brought it to the attention of the manager. She did nothing other than charge me for the side and refer me to corporate. Very disappointing!
Believe all of these great reviews. This unassuming Canastas Chicken location in this out-of-the-way shopping center is an incredible find. I’ve been getting take-out, pick up, and going to eat here for a few years now and it’s always DELICIOUS and honestly a very good price for the quality.I get the whole chicken with 2 large sides to split with a friend. I often get the Peruvian rice and beans, and green beans as sides. I love their fried yucca, they often cook it fresh when I order. Their key item is of course the roasted chicken which has always been cooked well, not over seasoned, and served hot. To end my meal I usually get an order of the sweet plantains - which are always moist, flavorful, and just a little burned which I love.Do not let the humble outside of this location turn you away - you want what they are selling.
Love love love the Salmon......it's slow cooked over a pit in plain view....the chicken falls off the bone.....the Fried rice is awesome. Seriously I have not had ANYTHING that was not good from here.

I have been going here for years. The food is always a hit never a miss. It talks to me. It reminds me of home. If you want bold flavor go here. Chicken cilantro is great but a bit spicy, but i love that. The lomo…IYKYK. Lomo is home. My family always gets the family la brasa meal. I forgot the name. But i did not forget the flavor. You you the chicken thats so full of flavor. The white meat is a juicy as the dark meat. The rice options are both wonderful. The beans and plantains smack!!! Add the green and yellow sauce and boom you dont need anything else except for a drink to wash it all down. This is my favorite location as well. The consistency with the flavor and service will have me returning forever. Thank you for bringing a little piece of my home to RVA. Ill post pics next time. We devoured the food.
