ONLY authentic Chinese place in the Richmond neighborhood. They have pretty much all dishes you can look for in a Chinese restaurant, starting with double cooked pork, beef tripes and tendons etc to dry pot and hotpot options (including seafood options). Prices might seem a bit expensive but they serve in big quantities. So if you are spending > $25 for any dish, it's very likely that two people can share it. I visited this place several times. Very fast service. Last time the dry pot was not so tasty, but I guess it can happen once in a while to all good places.Vegetarian options: Tofu dishes, veg dry pot available with potato and other veggies.Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian dishes availableParking: Plenty of free off street lot parkingKid-friendliness: Yes, family restaurantWheelchair accessibility: Yes, no stairs.

Simply outstanding food and service! This place never disappoints. Smoked duck, dry-fried eggplant, crispy pork, pigs ears in chili sauce, Dan Dan noodles, scallion pancakes, spicy green beans, tree ear salad, pea shoots & cucumber salad. Best Szechuan in town!

We ordered a piece of shredded dried pork at noon today. The dried tofu was not fresh and already sour. We noticed it after eating it with chopsticks and told the waiter to take it away. After a long time, the boss came over and asked: Do you want to add another dish? We said no more because we didn’t want to eat it. She added: That dish will be returned to you, that’s all. The tone and attitude are very bad. I was a little angry and said you have to apologize. She said, what if I refunded it to you? After a while, he said: "The waiter brought it over and I asked it to be served in the kitchen. I don't know if it is broken or not. Look, I came over and asked you if you wanted to add more food. I didn't even come to argue." He also said: I have never seen guests like you. I said loudly: If you are a restaurant owner and this happens, you should do two things. One is to withdraw the food, and the other is to apologize. It’s not just a matter of withdrawing the food, it’s what you should do! Then we checked out and left. The boss said that her English was not good, so I will comment in Chinese here, but at that time there was a white customer opposite us, and the boss communicated and served us throughout the whole process. He went to the table several times, but our table was not greeted once.

I deliver uber eats from here occasionally. The place has a very exclusive feel to it and very friendly staff. But as a delivery driver, they can take quite some time to have the order ready.

If you crave authentic Chinese cuisine and not the fast food takeout type spots this is a great place to go. You can taste the quality and wok hei flavoring in their food. The beef chow fun was delicious. The tangy crispy pork was indeed nicely crisp and not soggy or chewy. There were many dishes on their menu that I have never had before. Will surely come back.

Tasted like rancid oil was used to prepare food. The chicken for general tso was very little meat (lots of unchewable tendons, fat and bread) and lacked flavor except for excessive pepper bc they chop up the peppers. Worst meal ever and tossed most. Very disappointed.

My family has come to Cheng Du several times and normally love it, the food is incredible and usually we don’t have a problem. We had a terrible service experience recently though, on Lunar New Year when we were excited to celebrate with family, it was really disappointing. We had a reservation for 9 people at 5:00 and showed up on time, ordered a bunch of appetizers and entrees. The appetizers came out shortly afterwards and were delicious, but then we received only one of the entrees we had ordered… for the next TWO HOURS.Every 30-40 minutes the waitress would come over and tell us the rest of the food was coming soon, but still nothing else came out by 7:15. One time they came by and asked which items we had ordered, as if they forgot. Meanwhile, other tables that came in after us got fully served and left.By 7:00 we gave up and tried to get the bill for the few dishes we had received so we could pay and leave. The management repeatedly tried to make us pay the full bill including all the food we had ordered but never received, which added an extra $150. They argued with us and tried to dodge us for another 45 MINUTES while we just tried to get the bill. Finally after being forced to put our foot down, they removed the food items that they didn’t serve us from the bill so we could finally pay and leave, almost three hours after we arrived. It was a really appalling service experience. Honestly, it made me wonder if racism could have been a factor in the poor service - my family is mixed race, so we don’t look obviously Chinese. All the other tables around us that got served in a timely manner were majority clearly Asian people, and we were the only table that got “forgotten.” After over two hours of us repeatedly checking in with the waitress, they never brought our food out. Maybe they thought of us as less of a priority on Lunar New Year because we don’t look Asian. Whatever the reason was, it made for a big disappointment when my family had been looking forward to celebrating the holiday. We left with some of us still hungry and almost three hours wasted.

Cheng du? Cheng don’t! At the onset the waitress was hurriedly rude. She refused to check on us during the meal. The food was subpar at best: flavorless and bland. Atmosphere was loud. This was a huge disappointment. Very hard to find good authentic Chinese food and superb service.
