Rare Olde Times is a true Richmond gem. From the moment you walk in, it feels like a welcoming, neighborhood spot with authentic charm and great energy.

The live music is always top-notch. Whether it's open mic night on Mondays or bands playing Thursday through Saturday, there's always something entertaining happening that adds to the warm, lively atmosphere.

Trivia nights on Wednesdays are a blast! The questions are fun and challenging, the crowd is engaged, and it's a perfect midweek outing with friends.

And the food? The Reuben egg rolls are a must. Crispy, flavorful, and stuffed with corned beef, Swiss, and sauerkraut—they’re everything you didn’t know you needed in a pub appetizer.

Great food, friendly service, and unbeatable local entertainment. Can’t recommend Rare Olde Times highly enough!

Music was good. The food was not! Corned beef was rubbery, cabbage was not cooked enough. Fish on the cod sandwich was smaller than a chicken tender. Fries were the best thing we had.

Food was just okay, very bland and flavorless. Services was just okay as they forgot my order. Yikes! Trivia night was fun and enjoyable.

Fun Trivia night with new friends.

The food is always good, the servers are friendly and are really good at remembering you, and it’s a fun Pub atmosphere.

I absolutely love this place! Used to come here years ago and recently revisited. The food was great, as was the drinks and service!

Rare Olde Times is a GEM in western Henrico. Unassuming delicious food mimics the British food we had in London years ago with a few American items peppered in. My husband and I had been coming here quite regularly in the summer and fall, but a family wedding and the holidays happened and we hadn't been here in awhile. We came in tonight to a full house and a full bar. We were told that there was no room as it was packed and there was live music so reservations were needed. As we turned to leave, Bowie and Michelle beckoned us over and made room for us at the bar. Much appreciated to re-connect with them and enjoy an evening of food and music. We will never tire of coming here and feeling like we are welcome! Good Job, Rare Olde Times!

The staff and vibes are fantastic, but the food is some of the worst I've ever had in my life. I ordered the beef tips and for $18 I got instant mashed potatoes, premade god awful gravy, and beef tips that I couldn't even taste over the gravy. The mac and cheese was somewhat passable, but the beef tips were equivalent to what I'd expect to find in jail.

I got the shepherd pie and the legend brown ale. It's my first time trying both. As someone who comes from a different cultural background, it was a great experience. I never had shepherd pie before, but I had something similar to it and now wish to recreate this dish myself in the future because it was so good. The mash potatoes with the peas, cheese, and meat was surprisingly good choice. If I were to visit again, I would buy this same dish and try out another irish meal from their menu. I can't promise to take another person to this irish pub because my friends live a bit further away, but I can promise to visit again. Thank you again.

Everything was so wonderful I don't even know where to start. I got the Drunken Pig which was quite possibly the juiciest pork I've ever had. It melted in my mouth and the fries that came with it were well seasoned and too yummy to stop eating even though I was trying to save room for dessert. The bread pudding was so exceptional I would come back over and over just for that if I was a local. All the drinks were good but the Hot Toddy with the bread pudding was the perfect end to an incredible meal. Honestly it would be a good beginning too. The service was wonderful, very attentive. We actually had 3 additional people besides our waitress check in on the table while we were there. Not only did so many people seem to know each other which gave it a friendly neighborhood bar feel, but everyone talked to us like we were friends. I will definitely be visiting again next time I am in Richmond.

Kid-friendliness: I didn't have my daughter with me tonight, but I know she would feel comfortable here and would have loved the mocktails they advertised.

This place is excellent, the food is very good, the drinks even better, the bartender is gifted, and the staff are amazingly friendly and accommodating and make you feel very welcome. The atmosphere is divey and fun and very Irish, which is unexpected! Very talented Irish band also played the last time we were there.
