The Cooma Baptist Senior's group, OASIS, enjoyed a lovely lunch at Cafe 28 today. Delicious pumpkin soup, a variety of tasty sandwiches and hot chips. Thank you Deanne for your hospitality and the comfortable setting around the warm fire on a cold, winter's day. We had a very happy time together and enjoyed the delicious food.

Yay! I'm a fan, the caption with the 4 star rating on Yelp, really sums up my basic feeling on Cafe 28. If I were making reservation, or looking to really treat myself Cafe 28 would not be my choice of dining, but when the hustle and bustle of the work week starts to overwhelm you and you just need something you can count on, Cafe 28 or "28" as the regulars call it, will always be there. Nothing on the menu is gonna knock your socks off, but you know what you're getting. So basically you are trading in the "WOW" factor for reliability, and in Trump's America there is definitely something to be said for that. This picture was never more crystalized for me then yesterday. The daily grind and humpday blues were starting to wear me down, and I was looking to break free from the cubicle and enjoy a nice meal away from the desk. The lunch options in Herndon are many, but none scream gotta have it. With Tornado warnings on the horizon, staying at my home base seemed to be the prudent play and that's where the value of 28 shines through. Many in the building were seeking shelter, and gathering in conference rooms to move away from windows. If you think the weather warnings and tennant paranoia affected 28 and it's fabulous employees, I'd suggest you think again. Cafe 28 did't flinch. I checked the 28 facebook page, not shockingly it said we're open. I broke free of the shackles of my desk, wandered to the elevator, hit 1, and as the doors opened it was clear as day the "28" was still rocking and rolling. They wouldn't let the fear of a tornado stop them from doing what they do best, and that's serving there patrons during the lunch hour. Everytime I enter, I like to read the white board with the special, not necessarily to get it, but just to get an idea of what the magicians behind the counter are capable of. Yesterday the special caught my eye, but I had already made up my mind that I was getting a BLT with avacado on white toast, and boy did it hit the spot. Alot of people may say you can get that anywhere, or nowhere would mess up a BLT, and that my friends is where you are wrong. Trust me, I've experienced it, and if you don't trust me do a little Yelp search and see what turns up. It will shock you. There is no worse feeling than yearning for a simple snack only to have it ruined by incompetence and poor service, and this is where that word "reliabilty" comes into play. At the "28" there a 3 things you know you are getting everytime you swing open that glass door, and they are 1. Food - Fast and Fresh. 2. Conversation - Colorful with Coworks 3. Service - With a Smile. I salute you Cafe 28, and who knows I may be back today.

Office based deli providing a large variety of sandwiches and salads. Food quality is good, bit pricey for a small office based deli, but the audience is built in. Recommend you avoid any customization, not sure if they don't understand the request or simply incompetent, but the staff rarely delivers the order as asked.

Though the food here is tasty, the staff especially at the billing counter are very firm. The prices that are charged are completely different & higher from what is written on the menu. When asked they proclaim proudly that the prices have changed around 6 months ago. But no one cares to update the menu accordingly. Most often the dressing on the salads is barely sufficient. On the whole I would go to this place only because there is no other restaurant in the near vicinity.

This place is perfect for a quick breakfast and lunch if you're busy at work. It is in the building groundfloor. They have salads, wraps, burgers and panninis, all of which taste decent. The veggie options are good, in that, they have the Gardein version of chicken and beef (i.e. veggie). In addition they make some good Lavazza espresso and a lot of snack options - chips, yogurt cups, milk, chocolate, ice cream, etc. The women working there are very warm and welcoming.

The Lobster Bisque soup is the bomb! Very friendly staff. No complaints

Very friendly staff, and great food for the price. Salads are awesome, even though I'm not a leaf-eater! I like how they have specials too.

Cafe 28 is a corporate cafeteria located in the Monument buildings by Worldgate Plaza. It's not a place most Yelpers are likely to end up unless you work in the building or have some oddly specific quest where you absolutely, positively, MUST eat at every restaurant in Herndon before you die. That said... The good: The food is tasty! Easily one of the most important parts of any restaurant, the food and the service that comes with it is fairly top notch! The crew (who always seem to be in a good mood and having a great time) pulls everything together quiet nicely even during the dread Lunch Rush(tm). Most of the cooking is done on massive industrial panini presses/hotplate combos. It's odd to watch, but they manage to pull it off extremely well. The gyro is hands down my favorite. It's got a great mix of feta, meat and fresh veggies and really hits the spot. The breakfast wraps are also really big, extremely filling and come with potatoes and fresh fruit (yes, fresh!). They have a big variety of drinks, snacks and chips (so even if you're not wanting a meal you can always grab a quick nibble without breaking the bank). So it works two-fold as a cafe and convenience store to some degree. The bad: It's expensive. You're likely pay about 25% more for your lunch time meal for the convenience of getting it in the building. There are other locations in the general area within a 5 minute walk so it really depends on A) how lazy you feel that day B) how bad traffic is and C) how lazy you feel that day. Still, the food is surprisingly higher quality than I'd have expected and is actually fairly good. I can forgive the price because it's a corporate cafeteria. I'm not a fan of it, but with the quality and convenience it's hard to argue. I'm giving it a 4 for food quality, the fact the cafe is clean and holds itself it a high standard.

My trips to Cafe 28 have all but stopped due to the increased pricing and lack of internet or phone orders, but on days when I dash out of the house w/o my lunch I usually go there. Today I ordered one of my "usual" sandwiches, a BLT, and today for the 3rd consecutive time I was asked if I wanted lettuce and tomato on my sandwich. REALLY??? Please bring back the former cooks & staff, they knew that L and T in a BLT is lettuce and tomato. Or please train the staff better on what makes up the sandwiches offered.

As of 4/28/14 Cafe 28 has a new menu. Kudo's to them for revamping the entire menu and offering vegetarian options. Today I had the portabella panini without cheese. I was expecting a healthy lunch! What I got in return was portabella mushrooms and red peppers that were drenched in oil, the bread was all soaked, yuck! Now, the taste was good, if you want to down about 8oz of oil, but NOT what it is advertised as, healthy. Looks like I will be sticking to their black bean burger which is the best I've had any where.

I'll say it again. The veggie burger is clutch.
