I visited Charcoal Kabob in Herndon with my wife for the first time a day or two ago, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The food quality was poor. The kofta was hard and dry, and the lamb chunks were not tender at all. The portions were extremely small — it felt like we were given food samples rather than a proper meal. They might as well have counted the rice grains!
The taste was not good at all, and I ended up with bloating and stomach discomfort afterward. I definitely won’t be returning.
I honestly don’t understand how this place has some 5-star reviews. This just proves you can’t always trust online ratings — everyone has different tastes. Some people only care about eating anything, regardless of quality or flavor.
I've been going to this restaurant since they opened. I live many time zones away now, but I always pop in to take home their incredible chickpeas when I come back to the area. In all honesty, I have also tried for two decades to recreate them when I have none in my freezer, and I can't just run to their restaurant. Their delicious family recipe is still an unsolved mystery. I am so grateful for their kind, friendly smiles and welcoming feeling every visit. It is the culinary highlight of Herndon.

My husband and I love this place. We have eaten lunch here a bunch but we decided today it's our favorite lunch place. We eat lunch out together pretty much every day so this is kind of a big deal. The food is always so delicious. They make each meal fresh and each new item we try is better than the next. After my husband and I agreed it's the best place to have lunch I realized that I left my purse there. They kept it safe for me so they get extra points! Thanks guys!
