Mari Sushi Bar and Lounge

Ordered the sushi regular here tonight and it did not disappoint! Every piece of sushi was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Also, half priced drinks on Wednesdays! I’ll definitely be coming back.

Great quality sushi and sashimi, and the friendly service. I took my family there for the mother's day luncheon without much expectation, and I was very impressed by the quality of the food. Servers were so nice and friendly, and it was pretty well decorated place. Definitely not a typical japanese restaurant. I would definitely go back again!

Excellent sushi. Ramen is pretty decent as well!

We searched for a sushi restaurant in Herndon and found one with great reviews. We decided to try it for lunch and were thoroughly impressed with the food! We started with a delicious miso soup with a well-balanced miso and bonito broth. It had a savory taste that we both enjoyed. We also tried the Mari Mari Roll, a signature house roll consisting of shrimp tempura, tuna, salmon, and avocado, topped with baked scallops - it was incredible! We ordered a sushi and sashimi combo for two, a Chirashi bowl, and two pieces of chef's special Uni Hokkaido. The Uni Hokkaido had a burst of ocean fragrance in the mouth with a subtle sweetness, and it was just perfect. All the dishes came with high-quality fresh fish that were firm and shiny, indicating that they were fresh, and everything was delicious as each bite melted in our mouths! The service was excellent, and the interior ambiance was modern and stylish, with dim lighting and jazz music playing in the background. It made our lunch a unique and delightful experience.

I really wanted to love this restaurant but due to poor service I can not. The wait staff clearly prioritize regulars at the cost of ignoring non regulars. It's a strange dynamic as you would think all sales would matter but clearly not. In our case the waiter passed our table several times to cater to regulars whom they clearly knew based on the ongoing banter between them and the wait staff. After we finished our meal we sat and waited for 15mins while the waiter ignored our table passing us several times. When she final did approach us asking if we wanted more or if we were done we kindly asked to order more. At this point she told us to wait then proceeded to serve other tables and ignored us several more times. So we decided after being ignored to just pay and leave. That said the food is great but I would only recommend you get takeout because if you dine in and your not a regular you will be ignored.

Had a very pleasant experience at Mari, ordered a few rolls and their sashimi deluxe, chefs choice was top quality bluefin toro, flounder, hamachi and several other pieces of sashimi and I was not disappointed. I’m a sushi snob, normal customer of Ariake and have to say this quality is just as good. Pretty luck to have both these places within a short drive.

We gave Mari Sushi Bar and Lounge in Herndon a try for my husband’s birthday, and it is now my favorite sushi spot! Everything was incredible-fresh, flavorful, and filling. Hands down the best dynamite roll I’ve had, and even the fish I usually pass over were so good I kept going back to them. The sauces complemented the fish perfectly, I highly recommend giving them a try.

Went with two great friends for a night of sampling from the sushi bar. Chef John made amazing sushi treats for us. Food was wonderful, service was great and half off beers made for a fun filled night. Can't wait to go back! Great addition to the Reston area.

finally a really really good local sushi restaurant. the appetizers, a good variety to choose from.the Donburi (the salmon version) - the salmon was fresh, tender... melt in your mouth!!!!the Chirashi - the tuna, the salmon, the whitefish... all so very fresh, and tender, and also, melt in your mouth. the tuna was the best of the three. the sushi rice was nicely seasoned, tasty.next time, gonna try the miso ramen or the tonkatsu ramen... or both.

This is a very good spot in the area for sushi! The atmosphere is great, and the staff is very respectful. Food is great quality, I got the shrimp tempura roll and it was fresh and well prepared.
