This is a true gem located in historic Herndon. The food was fantastic, the ambience lovely and serene, the prices very reasonable. The owners (aka host/server/chef/sommelier) are seasoned, humble, and extremely talented. These folks owned the Russia House and decided to try their hand at French Fare. We'll be back soon. "Merci beaucoup" to the Darugars!
I was expecting more from them and maybe they were having a bad night. The food was ok but almost all dishes were overcooked and served on overheated plates. I would also suggest using some of the fine produce from the nearby Herndon Thursday market in your salade. The vegetables used were disappointing. The service was really poor and we had to ask multiple times to order wine and soft drinks. I suggest they work with their staff to bring up the standard of service. The sizzling plates are great for fajitas but not great for French food. Sorry for the bad review and I hope you can improve based on my observations.
We had a lovely Bastille Day. My duck was prepared in a Russian manner, not a French manner. Everyone enjoyed their dinner and had a very nice evening. We enjoyed hearing about the struggles when it was still the Russian Restaurant.
Food was superb! As expected for a good French restaurant, this is not an inexpensive restaurant, but was worth every penny!
The food was authentic and delicious!! The owners are so nice and the service was amazing!
This was our second time eating @ La Bonne Vie and the food was delicious, just like last time. We brought our friends to join us, and we all agreed we had to return. In addition, the staff is excellent and the restaurant was not noisy. We had a delicious, relaxing meal.
Wonderful for smaller celebrations. Our group of five enjoyed outstanding service. The menu was varied and the entrees were great — the filet was our favorite.
Delicious French restaurant in the heart of Herndon. Excellent chicken piallard and delicious steak frites. Love that they give you fresh warm bread and cold butter. Wonderful restaurant highly recommend
Lovely place for a date. Escargot and Coq au Riesling Pie were very salty. Meatball appetizer was good. Not worth the price though.
Vist this restaurant as soon as you can. The atmosphere is elegant, the service is great (we had a lovely chat with the owners), and the food is outstanding. The Coq Au Riesling Pie is superb ...the owner's wife makes it herself

Our experience at La Bonne Vie was outstanding. The service is superb and the food is excellent. The selection of French wines is very good, too. We loved our meal and will return to the restaurant.
A really nice place, with food that ranges from good (the duck breast) to excellent (the meatball). The best restaurant I've been to in Herndon. Welcoming and professional service and a nice ambience. It was quiet when I was there (on a Wednesday evening).
Very attentive service staff. Food was great. My wife and I liked the ambiance but our Gen Z children thought the music was too low.
We had a very nice Mother's Day meal here with kids. The service was good. The bread served hot was delicious and meals and dessert were enjoyed. The filet was over cooked, so maybe order less than what you want. The sauce and sides were great. The escargot were gone quickly. And served in mushroom caps, that was new to us. Will go back again. Would recommend to a friend. Ambiance was very nice.
Awesome little gem in the heart of historic Herndon. Extraordinary service, fantastic food, decent wine selection. We had a great time here.
