I've driven by the Mission BBQ on Semoran Avenue in Orlando plenty of times but never stopped to try their food. Well, 800 miles away, there's a Mission BBQ right next to my hotel in Virginia. So, I asked myself... why not? Could this be a sign I should give them a try?
I walked in, and the first thing you notice is all the military and first responder memorabilia everywhere, which they support through fundraisers. Great ambiance, and the staff seemed to really love what they do.
I went with the three-meat plate with mac and cheese and baked beans. I loved the option to choose which part of the brisket you prefer...in my case, the point. Super moist and packed with flavor. I also added the jalapeño sausage, and wow... they were incredible! So juicy and flavorful. The ribs were excellent too, with a perfect smoky flavor.
The mac and cheese was perfect, and the beans were great as well. Overall, it was an amazing meal. I can't wait to try the one on Semoran to see if the food is consistent

A good ole fashioned american BBQ joint. The food is excellent. 6 different types of bbq sauce. The walls are covered with memorabila in honor of American military, police, and fire service members. A special table is reserved for POW*MIA. Close to KIAD airport. Will come back!

Our first visit to the Herndon Mission BBQ won’t be our last! We loved our delicious lunch, the very friendly and helpful staff, and the interesting decor. Take a few minutes to look at the military and first responder memorabilia on display.

Food was good with fair portions. Service was quick. Atmosphere was neat. Prices were alright. We ordered the XL combo pulled pork with fries or Mac and cheese. There are two combo sizes you can choose to add on to the main entree. One is the XL (gives you one side and a drink) or XXL (two sides and a drink). The meal comes with cornbread too.

Today 8/14/25 , we decided to have our company Lunch at Mission BBQ and this was actually the second time I’ve been to this location. Let me tell you, the food, the service and staff have yet to disappoint. Everyone super friendly and the food was amazing! My manager had actually ordered me the wrong sandwich and the young lady Vivian, at the front counter sorted the matter with no hesitation. David was also a great help handling all our meals and drinks and making sure we had everything we ordered! I also had the opportunity to meet a new addition to the team Touwana, this locations ambassador and she was exceptionally sweet and attentive. She was consistently polite, cheerful, and friendly walking around greeting and attending to customers. Very wonderful lady, she is certainly a great asset to this team’s location! highly recommend you visit this location and be pampered with top tier customer service.

I’m here pretty often and was in again last week. Food was, as always, on point — exactly why I keep coming back.
That said, I couldn’t help but notice a bunch of employees just hanging out, talking and laughing, while things were going on around them. Also looked like someone underage (young girl who gave me my food) might’ve poured my beer, which is a little questionable.
Still a fan of the place, but hoping management tightens things up a bit so the service matches the quality of the food.

Ms. Touwana,
Made me and my families experience here absolutely phenomenal. I’ve never had such genuine service. If I could give her another thanks I would.

Half-rack of ribs Salty and dry, baked beans had a funny taste and the green beans bland. Bbq sauce don’t help with the salty ribs. Corn bread tasteless. JMO.

The food is great, specifically the brisket always brings me back whenever I drive by. I always have a great experience at Mission and the service is just outstanding. Shout out to Touwana for a great experience this afternoon.

Well, great place. Just arrived in the area and tried this place. I’m from Austin and the barbecue. Here is amazing. The service is incredible. Everybody was overtly professional positive and helpful. They played great country music in the dining room and have a wonderful selection of six different barbecue sauces to choose from their mac & cheese was delicious. They’re pulled pork brisket and sausage was fantastic. Highly recommend it. Special kudos to Sandra and Chris..

I took Hezekiah Watkins to lunch there because he never had BBQ and cornbread. We were greeted by Towanna and she was great. She broke down the menu for my friend and even checked on us later. The food was excellent and the bathroom clean....
Side note Mission BBQ really needs to support Juneteenth. It was soldiers who enforced the Emancipation Proclamation there that day and those same soldiers now veterans shared that event with their families and community.
