I used to come here when I was a super young kid for the gingerbread cookies. Returning now as an adult, I appreciate this bakery very much. Yummy stuff.

I game in again a few weeks later, at 10:00 and the cases were sparse ... no spice bars again. Williams Bakery needs to spring i to action in this Highland Springs location! My sweet tooth is turning sour!

Not known for writing reviews but the management of this particular Williams Bakery in Highland Springs rightly earned this review: about a week ago my wife ordered a birthday cake for me which was to celebrate my birthday and our son who was born on the same day. We have shared our birthday for decades:). This birthday was especially nice as it was my 75th!My wife was asked what she wanted written on the cake. She ask for both my name and our sons and of course "Happy Birthday".It arrived today and she went to pick it up and was told by the nice lady that there was a problem. There was nothing written on the cake at all! Wow, yes that's a bit of a mistake. She was nice enough to say that she would call the manager and ask for a price adjustment recognizing the error on their part and the fact the party was only hours away. The manager without giving any thought about past or future customer service quickly responded "no". Not even an apology from the manager! Clearly, the lady behind the counter is a better representation of the store and service than the one who counts the money and calls themselves a manager.

On 3/23/22, I visited this location with intent to place an order for a birthday cake. My mother was turning 85, and I wanted to do a cake that was a little different from what was offered on the menu. The young lady behind the counter gave me the company’s email address and a phone number. I was told to contact Claudia and send the picture of the cake to her. Claudia told me that she couldn’t do the flowers that were on the cake as they appeared to her to be made of gum paste or sugar. We finally decided that the flowers could be placed on top of the cake by doing piping. On 4/5/22, I contacted Claudia via email to make sure that everything was still on point with the cake as I would be picking it up on Saturday, 4/16/22. She told me “all is good.” This weekend was special because I had family flying in from the West Coast to surprise my mother for her 85th birthday. On 4/16/22, I went to pick up the cake and it had no flowers on it. The woman behind the counter was extremely curt and aloof, telling me I don’t know what to tell you. We don’t do any cake decorating or baking at this store. The cake I ordered looked nothing like what was discussed between Claudia and I. I was given a $10 discount and was told to enjoy a chocolate egg on my way out. Finally the time came to cut the cake and sing Happy Birthday. I attempted to cut the cake and found that it was sinking in the middle. There was a hole in the cake! Upon further investigation, I found that there was a circular piece of cardboard in the middle of the cake covered up by frosting. The cake was supposed to have three layers. This cake was a round, single layer pound cake with cardboard placed in the middle. Please understand that it was not about the money that was paid for this monstrosity, nor for the discount that was given. It was about an experience that should have been special to my mother, family and friends. You don’t get a redo as memories and experiences are priceless!

Got a few items here and they were all delicious and reasonably priced. The person wasn't rude, but she wasn't overly friendly either; I might have caught her on a bad day. I plan on making another visit to get some more tasty treats and see what the customer service level is next trip. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. FYI: parking is extremely limited.
