“I have noticed some comments on here saying that they were excited to try but when they got there it was closed down, please be patient with the owners guys the husband is a veteran of the navy, the army & the marines he has had some health issues recently and him & his wife who is the sweetest person in the world run the place by themselves so they have to shut it down sometimes when they are not able to make it. We all age one day right so if you are going to show up have your expectations set accordingly and also, show up with some respect.

The regulars of places like this go by all the time do not come to nine mile road or RVA period disrespecting, bullying, or trying to prove points because you didn’t get your way. You will be in a very unfavorable situation.

“They still use the old style brick oven. Best Pizza and sandwichs I've had in awhile. Brought back the new york taste. Very good. Steak n cheese is amazing and the chicken Philly and the meat lovers pizza. It will literally make you think u are in New york. Homemade fresh sub rolls and dough daily. Plus the subs are huge at least 12in subs for a 6in price nowadays. Highly recommend trying everything on the menu bc it's nothing we've had that we didn't like. Been going here for a few years now.”

“I have never purchased a cake from them but have been in MANY times to purchase decorations for cupcakes and cakes that we make at home. Her decorations she has made with her own two hands are STUNNING! The people on the cake shows would not be able to compare. Her flowers look real, her booties are amazing, and the little small decorations are just outstanding! Go check them out!”

“My first time eating in, I previously ordered over the phone and picked up. The server was great, very accommodating and she worked every table by herself as well as the register and the phone. She gets a 10/10 herself. The food was great, I got a pancake slam and my bf got a jumbo slam. There was a weird feel with some of the other patrons, which were older, but I don't let other people bother me. I would definitely eat in again and take my food to go as well.”

As I saw some staff putting up holiday decorations, I came in for a hand dipped chicken sandwich that was perfect! “Well researched food, solidly composed cocktails, and a warm interior make The Roosevelt one of the most talked about restaurants in RVA currently. Chef Leah is as much a researcher as she is a good chef. Being a long time food writer who has been on assignment in many kitchens, its no surprise to me that Leah has carved out a reputation for herself in Richmond recently. She sources a lot from local farmers, adheres often to seasonal common sense, and takes inspiration from her reading and research on Soul Food, Southern food, and Virginia food. I wouldn't classify prices at The Roosevelt as cheap but also wouldn't classify them as extravagant either. Marketed by many as a "neighborhood spot" I always see The Roosevelt as a great date night spot, particularly for those who might fancy themselves foodies. Congrats to Leah and The Roosevelt on their recent James Beard nod. In my opinion, well deserved.”

It honestly doesn’t matter what you get it’s going to be delicious. If it’s on the menu when you go I highly recommend the Georgian flatbread, the bao buns, the chorreadas, or the cachapas!”

“My partner and I went to Lost Letter last night for a celebration dinner. We tried a cocktail each and shared a bottle of wine. We ordered a bunch of appetizers/food to share and everything was delicious. The service was absolutely top notch. They boxed up my leftovers and checked them in the back so we could enjoy our dessert without them on the table and brought them back out when we were finished. I noticed that every little detail was considered, even with how they treated the tables that were around us. We both agreed this was the best dining experience that we have had in Richmond.”

I placed a large order just 30 minutes before closing—four chicken sandwiches, a 20-piece chicken tender meal, and their amazing honey biscuits—and everything was fresh, hot, and made to order.
