After much thought and family discussion we have to say that our meal was not great. food had been under heat lamps, was congealed and took forever to arrive. restaurant seemed overwhelmed with holiday weekend bookings and we were in overflow room with noisy children and so so ambience. If kitchen gets organized could be great - but for now I'd stay with Omni options.

Great food! We were staying at the Omni resort (across the street) and unfortunately during our stay there was only one main restaurant so we decided to try here and we were so surprised at how good it was (better than resort)! The shrimp & grits was absolutely phenomenal! I have had shrimp & grits MANY places and this is easily in the top! A must try!

I had one of the best steaks I've ever had in my life, perfectly seasoned and grilled. I rarely order steak because it's hard to beat my own, but the chef at Sam Snead's Tavern did! Wonderful, casual restaurant with outstanding food and a great bar. Highly recommend it.

Be prepared - everything is a la carte! It was delicious but very expensive. More expensive than it really should have been on a week day and not in high season.

Service was slow. Took almost 15 minutes to get a mixed drink and the restaurant was not busy. Server was friendly, but didn't she did not come back to check on us at all. For such an upscale restaurant, we were expecting better.

The food was great. Our server was outstanding and the overall experience was very good. We loved that the restaurant has maintained its nostalgia. It is well maintained yet the same as I remembered it from years ago.

I am working in the area this week and trying different restaurants. Decided to stop here and tried the chicken dinner. It was a great meal. The service was excellent. The tavern is like a Sam Snead museum. The bar area has plenty of space available for small groups. Hopefully will be able to dine again here soon. Friendly people and great service. Even though it is a little expensive it is worth the price.

This a lovely historic tavern with a lot of character. We were staying in the resort across the street so we decided to stop by for lunch here before we checked in. The food was tasty, drink selection abundant and our server was very attentive. She even offered to take our picture in front of the large fireplace. I wish they would have been open on Sunday as well because we would have returned for another meal.

The short rib special was VERY SALTY. The restaurant should keep in mind that people have different salt thresholds, and it is BAD for blood pressure. When in doubt, use less salt than more. Meat already has salt in it. In fact, a lot of food elements already have salt in them, without adding any more. Also, the first order of bread that came out bounced on the plate.Dietary restrictions: Low salt; No salt added.

The exterior is deceiving. It somehow manages to get the comfortable vibe of a local pub, while serving high-end restaurant quality food. Staff was extremely friendly and checked up on our table multiple times, despite how busy the restaurant was. Some of the seating areas are up a few flights of stairs, so if you have mobility issues definitely let the host know when you arrive.I had the pulled chicken salad and my husband had the salmon, and we split house made garlic rolls. Everything was absolute delicious!Parking: There's a small parking lot next to the tavern. It can fill up quickly on weekends.

Our waiter was very attentive and gave us a round of drinks when our food took a little long to come out as they were busy. Food was very good - chicken breast and the short rib special

Food was terrific! We had shrimp and grits and pork chop with bacon spinach, garlic bread and crème brûlée. We were there on Valentine's Day and there was live music so it was pretty loud, but it was fun. Don't be in a hurry. It takes a while to get your food, but well worth it.

Sat for 20 minutes and were never acknowledged, so we left. We've been coming here for years, both when the Homestead owned it, and since it's been privately owned. Such a shame. We told the young man at the host stand on our way out that we were giving up waiting, and he didn't even look up from his phone. Worth noting that the place had only a hand full of tables at the time. This probably should have been a sign.

I'm a Davidson NC resident (and very familiar - and consistently impressed) with the food and service and ambiance at Cafe Monte in Charlotte NC . . . So imagine my delight to discover that Randy and his amazing wife are the new leadership team behind this classic establishment! Our dinner last night was kicked off with a pair of exceptional cocktails (a Moscow Mule for me and a Hot Cocoa Peppermint Toddy for my fella.) Beyond the perfect placement of scoring a table in front of the fireplace - we also landed the most attentive server (Jasmine) who kept us informed about our menu options AND shared her knowledge of the local area attractions as well. For appetizers we ordered the Deviled Eggs and the Beet Salad (both extraordinary in their own rights) but were left wanting for the shrimp gumbo (ordered - but it never arrived at the table) although it looked delicious on our neighbor's table as we met new friends during dinner (shout out to Traywick and Carol Duffie.) For the main course my partner enjoyed the full rack of lamb coupled with a delicate minty sauce and some sautéd veggies and asparagus (both of the latter ordered as sides as the meals come a la carte.) My selection was the Shrimp Fra Diavolo (which seemed like a complementary selection after starting with the deviled eggs ‍!) The flavor profile was excellent and the shrimp size was substantial and cooked just right. For dessert we indulged in a rather dry cinnamon cake with ice cream (would NOT recommend) and an expertly prepared crème brûlée (would go back for.) The ambiance was on point and the flavors fulfilling. So happy to have this place nearby !

Place was nice and we sat by the fireplace - cozy. Ordered a salad which was good. Ordered dinner and one came out correct and the second did not. Since the dinners are made to order it would have taken 15min longer to get the second meal. We would have eaten separately so decided to decline. The second meal was a salad (after having a salad appetizer). The food was good but not the right meal. The server apologized and we only paid for the appetizer and one meal - that part was done right. I'd give them a second chance since it was a mistake on the servers part
