After seeing the strong reviews I was underwhelmed. Although the non-smoking room is walled off, you can still smell it. It's 2025, and I just dont think its necessary. The food was okay. We ordered the wings which were fine (4/5) but my biggest disappointment was the Buffalo-style chicken sandwich. Either they ran out of buffalo sauce or they were rationing it out that night. The main positive was the ability to watch the game regardless if youre sitting at the bar or dining at a table. Good views from all angles. The staff are very friendly and helpful too.

Order 20 piece wing breaded with a burger bacon on the side bartender was amazing fast and speedy. She knows exactly what she’s doing. Great customer service highly recommend.

SURPRISE! Spankys is essentially an institution in Leesburg, it's been around forever. It's taken a long time for me to get around to checking it out. It feels and seems like a dive bar! It's divided into a smoking half, and a smoke-free half. You can smell the smoke seep through, but it's manageable.

The food is actually fantastic!! Good service, fresh food, always hot, never soggy or cold. Typical bar fare, but done right. Ranges from burgers and wings, to comfort food like meatloaf, or fish and chips. Ordered pretzels with beer cheese and mustard, and a chicken Parm sub. Both were above average, with a below average price point. It's not fancy, it's not particular special, it's just executed really well. Onion rings were sweet, crunchy, and plentiful. Chicken Parm was breaded well but not thick, roll was crispy on the outside, and the pretzels were awesome.

10/10 would go back.

Edit: After returning, the staff were very understanding & accepted my passport as secondary form of ID. As compensation, they offered my partner & I a free round of drinks which was more than generous. Great people, and hopefully this won’t happen again

I had a very poor experience at spanky’s last night on 8/17. Went out to celebrate my best friend’s 21st birthday and just because I was the only person who lived out of state (in WV) they declined my ID and thought it was fake as well when I am turning 23 this year. I had multiple other proofs of documents that showed my ID/ age on my phone and they also refused those as well.

I can only assume they serve people who live in VA & refuse anyone with an out of state license, especially WV. Next time I will need to bring my PHYSICAL passport with me to be able to be served.

It was such a ridiculous situation & they lost good paying customers. Our whole group left because of it. Shenanigans needs to have a scanner for ID to help prevent this issue. I hope the next time I come there they will have implemented a scanner for anyone out of state.

Ya know. I know this is a cool hangout. The waitresses are fantastic. The atmosphere is cool. But I decided to treat myself to dinner-something I never do. And it was AWFUL. I had a steak dinner, added shrimp (but didn’t receive them), sautéed broccoli and Mac and cheese. The steak should’ve been medium well and it was so raw I couldn’t chew it. It was completely absent of any type of seasoning. The Mac and cheese. Honestly. It’s better from the box and lacked any seasoning or flavor. The sautéed broccoli not only tasted microwaved, but had the texture of microwaved. Completely devoid of any type of seasoning whatsoever. I paid about three extra bucks for each side because they were considered “special” sides. And the Mac was the only thing I ate from the meal because ALL of it sucked. I paid $50 ($15 tip) for a meal that I could’ve paid $20 to cook at home and it would have been edible. And I’m not even trying to be aggressive or crappy when I say any of this because I like the place. The meal just sucked that badly. There’s been 3 times in my life where I’ve eaten out and considered it garbage. This is one of them and at the top of the list bc literally not one thing was cooked properly or seasoned or enjoyable-and Part of my order was missing.

The only thing I don’t regret about this meal is that I considered ordering a steak for my dog and decided against it, but she ended up having one anyhow.

Sat at the bar in the dining area. The side of the bar was loud and crowed. I was looking for a snack and a beer. The wings were delicious. The staff was attentive.
