The customer service from beginning to end was amazing and welcoming. The food was not the best but it was edible.

Firstly, my particular server was very nice, but I witnessed several occasions where other servers would roll their eyes or get angry with patrons and then proceed to talk smack about them with other servers. As for the food. There are only a couple of options if you want Mexican food in this area, unless you want to travel. I had the urge for some, and even though my first experience wasn't the greatest here, I gave it another shot, I craved Mexican. I got the Taco Loco salad, which is tame compared to other options. It wasn't all that bad. No dressing, of course, but used the salsa from the chips to liven it up. The chicken was good, but the beef was a little iffy, but I just didn't sit right with me, similar to my first experience.I paid my bill and left. Not even a half hour later, I started getting really nauseous and had real bad cramps. What ensued was not something I will share. That and the fact I had been there with co-workers to celebrate retirements ( I didn't eat during those visits) and they price gauged the he'll out of the drinks because of our large groups.I will not revisit this establishment. Take this for what you will and make your own judgements, but I do not recommend.

Both of us came to Lexington from more metropolitan areas. My partner was born and raised in Phoenix, where I lived for many years as well. It doesn't get much more authentic outside of Mexico than Phoenix. Having said that, though, there are so many average or worse Mexican restaurants in the US. Places where they plop some canned refried beans and bland rice on a plate, next to whatever you ordered so covered in some sauce that you can't tell what it is. Don Telquilas is better. While still being reasonably priced, you get large helpings that are well seasoned and flavorful. One of our favorites is the Chorizo-Pollo, spicy and cheesy. My go to is the carnitas, which are better earlier in the day (they overcook as the day progresses), juicy chunks of pork served with saiteed onions, very good. You are greeted fairly promptly and seated (if there isn't a wait), and then bottomless chips are brought with a red sauce as well as Virginia's white sauce. You might mistake that for ranch if you didn't know better, but it's a little tangy with a spice to it, and I like to mix it with the red for a tasty bite. While you wait (food comes out pretty fast!), you can enjoy the hand painted wall decor and the authentic, made in Mexico painted seating. There is always Mexican music, sometimes a tv, and a separate bar area. The bathrooms are clean and bright as well. I steer clear of the quesadillas, having ordered a chicken one that only had chicken but no cheese, which was odd. But the fajitas are great, as are a variety of the enchiladas, shrimp and fish dishes and more . I've always left full, taken home leftovers, and never been ill from their food. The ice tea is crisp and cold, fresh and never stale. They have a decent selection of beer, including a few Mexican ones. Service has always been friendly. If you're in town, try it out!

On vacation in Lexington. We felt like Mexican food and found Don Tequilas. I ordered chicken fajitas( my go to at a new place) and they were great! Large portions, seasoned well, tortillas were hot and soft...was great! The chips and salsa/white sauce were soo good. Wanted to take the white sauce home with me! Our server was amazing, refilled drinks almost immediately at half way, and food was out fast! Would recommend!

If your looking for Mexican food, this is the place to go. If your looking for Peking duck though, I'd try somewhere else.
