Totally worth the 6 mile detour from the highway. Lovely, simple little spot with very nice and attentive folks. Food is fresh, veggies crisp, , coffee is good and bright. Lotsa locals of all races who clearly cherish each other..
We literally stumbled across this place while going to loews store in Martinsville. What a blast from the past!! Felt like we were in Mt Airey where they try to recreate the days of Andy Griffith. Cash only! Hand written chits for your order. Very simple southern menu. Lovely people. The place can get packed fast so try to go a little off time. Have real Virginia ham. So different\nand fun from our now computer driven lives!!!\nI will be back.
1st time there, BUT it definitely won't be our last. We live 45 minutes away so we do wish that they were open for supper. I got hot dogs with chili & slaw, both homemade. Wife got a cheeseburger, huge and hand pattied. I saw a hamburger steak on someone else's plate. It was massive.
