“My coworker brought me to Ballston Quarter after our meeting for lunch before I flew out. The overall food court has some great eats but I love me some dumplings. Found Dumpling District and was pleased that it offered the menu in both English and Chinese, that’s how you know it’s legit! The gentleman was very friendly, informative, and he also spoke Cantonese which I don’t see often in my hometown of Raleigh. The soup dumplings had great flavor and temperature while the fried dumplings had just the right proportion of filling to wrap. On top of that, the house fried rice had great wok hei (for those Chinese/Canto speakers). I will definitely go back the next time I am in town!“

“The most affordable, fast and tasty lunch option in the area. It’s a family-owned spot with great lunch specials and options for vegetarians. Highly recommend. It’s more of a takeout spot, but they have a few seats if you need to eat lunch in house“

“I happened to be in the shopping center and I needed something for dinner. I have always wanted to try them but never got the chance. They were great! Loved the Peking Duck dumpling, and my partner loved the Bulgogi Dumpling. I also ordered the Teriyaki Chicken as a recommendation, and it all did not disappoint. It reminded me of New York Chinatown. Next time... soup dumplings! There are lots of good veggie options, too. All I was missing was my boba tea, and I would have been set. Lots of great choices!“

“Always an absolutely delicious and fulfilling meal and experience. All the food is amazing and the atmosphere while loud because of how crowded it usually has been is aesthetically pleasing while the service in my experience has always been friendly but I’d suggest keeping in mind how busy it can get if you’re in a rush and expecting super fast service although this doesn’t personally bother me.“

“I’d been seeing rainbow soup dumplings and wanted to try them so decided to order from Dumpling District. They look slightly larger in photos than they are in real life.
There are 6 dumplings - pork, Mala (spicy pork), chicken, shrimp & zucchini, crab & pork & lastly a truffle with pork.
They were lukewarm. I tasted the shrimp, which was the green dumpling. It was my favorite out of all of the dumplings. It was a nice flavor. Next I tried the pork, which was good; then the chicken, which tasted okay. Next, I tried the crab & pork, which was a good tasting combo and then the spicy pork, which was the reddish color dumpling. Lastly, I tried the truffle pork, black dumpling. I was most looking forward to this as I love truffle, but this one was my least favorite. While it looked cool, the flavor wasn’t there.
Overall, I like the idea of pairing the dumplings together so that one can try various flavors at once. Aesthetically it looks like such a fun dish because it’s so colorful.
Now, I also ordered scallion pancake with beef. Normally, I wouldn’t order beef, but I’m oh so glad I did. It was delicious!! The scallion pancake w/ beef tasted flakey, flavorful and hearty. The beef was well seasoned and perfectly paired with the scallion pancake. Although it was a little oily, I would order the scallion pancake again and pair it with an Asian-inspired omelet made at home, it was that good.
I’m looking forward to dining in at Dumpling District. I’m happy to see that there are several throughout the DMV-area.“

“My wife and I visiting relatives in DC area, found this restaurant for lunch. Very unique to this family from Florida! Because the menu was so much fun, we ordered way too much food. They had giant oysters, biggest I have ever seen. I tried steamed chicken feet and steamed beef tendon, really great flavors and texture. We ordered some shrimp and vegetables wrapped in rice paste, also steamed, never seen anything like it and very good. We had selections of steamed pork buns, cuttlefish with pickled vegetables, it goes on and on. The servers were super nice and helpful. The restaurant is very basic, but busy even at lunch. A super experience.“

“The food was good. Avoid the beef spare rub entre but definitely get pan fried noodles with Seafood and the Duck dishes. Dim sum is also tasty!!“

“Came to this place on a rainy day because I firmly believe there is no better comfort food during this time than Chinese food. I walked into this large restaurant. The place was pretty empty which is unfortunate because the food is BANGIN’. The portion sizes are insanely big! I got the Hunan Beef which was tender and delicious. My friend got the tofu rice noodles which could have fed a family of four lol!
Definitely recommend to give this place a try! Our server was adorable and she made sure we were comfortable and had a great time!“

“Food was good but lacked that flavor that elevates the dish from being good to great. It was still good and came out most Rikki-tik, almost too quick but still felt fresh. Felt full but not in a bad way. Definitely felt satiated afterwards. Pleasantly surprised with the food and the overall price. I would come back if I was in the area and hungry for Dim Sum.“
