Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams

We had there ice cream honey vanilla bean milkiest chocolate it was good the guy on the counter was very helpful for us and helping picking the flavors because it was our first time at that ice cream shop and they had many flavors.

I visited Jenni’s Ice Cream on October 18th around 7:00 PM and had a disappointing experience. My friend and I each ordered two scoops, which should have cost $7.89, but we were both charged $12.89. When I checked the receipt, I noticed that a $5 tip had been added without our consent to each transaction.

The employee who said she was the manager — a Black woman named Sierra (as shown on the receipt) — handled our orders. We did not authorize any tip, and this felt like unauthorized charging. I mention this detail only so management knows exactly who was working at that time.

What made it even stranger is that I come to this Jenni’s often, and they always flip the screen to let me choose the tip — but this time, they didn’t show the screen at all. That was unusual and concerning.

I did get a refund and was correctly charged $15.78 for the two ice creams. However, the issue isn’t about the refund — it’s about the dishonesty. I hope management takes this seriously because situations like this can really hurt customer trust.

The ice cream itself was great, which is why I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1, but the experience overall was disappointing and needs to be addressed.

Dear Jenil’s Ice Cream Management,

I am writing to formally report a very concerning experience I had at your Tysons location on Saturday, October 19th, at approximately 7:04 PM.

I visited with a friend and asked to pay for both of our ice creams. The staff member on duty, Sierra, said “no problem.” When I paid for my ice cream, I was charged $12.89, but the iPad screen was not flipped for me to review before completing the transaction. I later noticed that she had selected a $5 tip without my consent.

When my friend received his ice cream, Sierra told us the second order had not been paid for and charged us again $12.89. After stepping out briefly, we returned to question the charges. Upon requesting a receipt, it became clear that two charges had been processed, both with unauthorized $5 tips added. When I asked for clarification, Sierra claimed it was a “system problem,” which does not explain why both transactions included unauthorized tips.

This incident is deeply troubling. It not only resulted in double charges but also raises concerns about dishonest practices at your store. I strongly urge you to:
• Review your camera footage and transaction logs for October 19th, around 7:00–7:15 PM.
• Investigate the employee’s handling of transactions and tip selections.
• Address this issue with urgency, as it undermines customer trust and suggests possible misconduct.

This was a very negative experience, and as a result, I will not be returning to Jenil’s Ice Cream or recommending it to others. I sincerely hope management takes this matter seriously and takes the appropriate steps to correct it.

Came by and there was a note on the door saying they would open at 4. Ran some errands came back around 9 was another note saying they were open for pints!! CHANGE YOUR HOURS OR CLISE

Nice surrounding area.

I love this place and go whenever I am visiting home -- but it's been closed all 3 times I tried going the last 2 weeks! Only today did they have a sign up indicating that it is going to open at 4pm, surprised that this info is nowhere to be found online. I was not the only disappointed customer in my 3 attempts

They literally will randomly close for several hours without prompting or warning and attribute it to staffing issues. Maybe hire more or close.

I popped in here today to escape from the heat. The icecream is actually very good and they have many unique flavors. Also the people running the place are very helpful people

The ice cream (two scoops) was really good and creamy, but the waffle cone tasted bitter or perhaps it was spoiled, not sure.

One of the best ice creams I’ve had! Such fun flavours that are DELICIOUS. Will be coming back again and again

Enjoyed the Gooey Butter Cake ice cream! The person that helped us was also really informative and friendly! Also loved the environment.
