So we went for brunch expecting the full brunch all you can eat service as advertised online and in their menu. Turns out this location does not have a waffle bar, taco bar, and the cotton candy machine wasn't working. We then all ordered a la carte entrees. They were out cinnamon rolls as well. Overall, we would have gone to another location to enjoy the full brunch experience.
Daren was an amazing server.

I came to the McLean Matchbox location with a couple girlfriends, and the service was amazing. We got a truffle and mushroom pizza and the chicken Alfredo and they were both 10/10!! Our server was Darren, and he extremely attentive and made sure we had a good experience/great customer service. The manager gave us 2 desserts on the house and made us feel so comfortable and ensured that we had a great time. Definitely would come again!!!

Place had a slight sports bar vibe but the Food was great despite the pizza being thin crust. I guess that’s their signature baking style. Server was excellent. Took off one star because nobody at the restaurant acknowledged the two birthdays we were celebrating. I guess this isn’t a birthday place. Overall we walked away satisfied.

Just not as good as it used to be. A $28 medium pepperoni pizza. If that is what a corporate pizza costs these days, then we are post-pizza.

We were admittedly difficult customers (not enough pears, drinks not mixed, spilled a drink...sounds like a family with young kids but we were 4 old ladies). Anyway, our waiter was just great and really tried to stay on top of our requests.
The lower service rating is a result of the service provided by the manager who was in charge of our table initially. He was unpleasant, in a hurry, and rude. Unfortunately. The manager was equally rude with his staff. When the manager brought my dish initially, he quickly returned and whisked it away saying it was the incorrect one. No further explanation. Later a server brought me what looked like an almost identical salad. The service only improved once the staff servers began taking care of our table. They were excellent. Pleasant. They checked back on us several times.
Matchbox used to be one of my favorite restaurant chains. Now that it's owned by some big corporate company, it sucks. The drinks and food are expensive at the Mosaic location. and there for very few people there. It used to have such a great vibe; it was always full of people at the tables and the bar. please bring back the original owners!
Food and service are always fantastic, but the noise level can be a little too much at times.
I've only dined at Matchbox a handful of times, but usually order pizza. This time, I only a brunch entree (seafood scramble). It was okay, but not great. My friend ordered shrimp and grits; she too indicated her meal was not that great. Service was okay and our alcoholic drinks were good. If I return to this or another location, I would likely stick to pizza or maybe give the bottomless brunch a try.
