Worse crabs I have ever purchased. A crayfish has more meat in it then your crab. Ordered a lb. of seafood salad, had to turn my head when I opened the container. They mixed the two-day old salad with the fresh salad. The meat in the crabs were full of water and the meat was very mealy. What meat there was. The lady behind the counter had a personality of a rattlesnake and managed to give me all of what they would eventually throw out. Rip me off once, shame on you. Rip me off twice, that won't happen. you just lost a good customer, and you are going to lose many more. Hope you can survive on the money I spent. you will never get any more from me and the hundreds of people I turn away from your business. You can throw all of your seafood out in the parking lot, and even the Gulls won't eat it. Good luck. Keep an eye out for the health inspector. Overpriced, awful quality, very poor service.
Very friendly and knowledgeable.
Great place for fresh seafood!
Great for fresh seafood
I was so excited to learn that someone understood how to cook all sizes. Captain Greg said he had to adjust the cooking time due to the heaviness of the crabs. Coming from Maryland, not the case. It's same that when the big crabs are as mushy as the little crabs, something has gone horribly wrong? We saw you open the door. The lady that helped us so sweet. We drove home, got all situated to eat and I could not get past the mush of it all. The only part of the crab that was not gag worthy was the legs. Thought about making crab cales with the mea but NO recipe wants crab paste. Booooooo !! And you can delete it on Facebookbut you can't delete it off Google captain Greg ?
Captain Greg’s is by far the best seafood establishment in Richmond, VA! Friendly staff who are always willing to assist and fresh seafood that is generously cost-efficient. Love this place!
Great seafood. And service
Visited The store the first time few weeks ago and purchase 3 dozen females crabs and several bags of snow crab legs . Got home and the blue crabs were black on top were they were over cooked and dry . I called and requested new batch of crabs or a refund . I got told 3 different times that the owner was gonna call me back and never did . I had to call and ask for the owner each time they promised they were gonna call me back . Last call they told me that he left me my refund . I was nice to them and was gonna keep doing business with them until I figured that I didn’t see and more advertising on my Facebook for them and realize they blocked me . The snow crabs were good . But I will not be spending any money with them anymore bc of that .
Excellent! Always fresh.
I've tried every place in Richmond and this is the best! Always friendly and helpful staff too.
Always stocked with fresh fish, oysters and crab ?

By FAR the best FRESH seafood in town. Prices are great also!! Super friendly staff.
Great seafood.. Especially Crabs!!
Beware! Just went to Capt. Gregs to buy 2 dozen LIVE crabs. We have purchased live crabs in the past with no problems. However, today the box of 2 dozen looked short by probably a half dozen, while trying to do a count, I found an obviously dead crab, out of the next 5 crabs checked, found 2 more DEAD CRABS. When notifying the clerk, she said they were just cold and always like that. I said when the mouth plates are hanging open, it’s dead. She got the owner who came in with a couple of crabs in hand, legs hanging and mouth plates open. He tried to say they were just cold. I informed him that I grew up as a waterman and I know a dead crab (mouth plates open and legs drooping). I showed him the first dead one and he said, “yeah that one is dead, but the rest are just cold”. Never offered an apology or showed any concern as we said no thanks to the sale and walked out. Everyone was very rude and could have cared less. Cooking dead shellfish is a very serious health issue, crabs begin decomposing almost immediately after death. Look it up! If this establishment will attempt to sell DEAD CRABS as Live, then it should make everyone wonder how many dead are being steamed and sold.
