Old Towne Smokehouse is hands-down one of the best spots in Mechanicsville! The food is cooked to perfection — smoky, tender, and full of flavor. My wife and I brought our boys here after a busy day at our store, and everyone left happy (and full!). The staff treated us like family, and the service was fast and friendly. As a fellow small business owner here in town, I really appreciate the pride they put into what they do. If you’re looking for great BBQ and a true local gem, this is the place to go!

A large group of us went last Thurs. We thought we would eat outside last min it started raining. The service was great! Young man taking orders was polite, efficient and very helpful with us. Food was great and we all know customer service is very important. I think this service was better than any place I have been to.

For a meal for two, I ordered the 1/2lb brisket (came with cornbread) and two sides: mac and sweet potatoes). Though the young man at the counter forgot to pack our sauce, the brisket was tender and flavorful. The mac had good texture and the noodles were cooked to perfection. I added some monterey jack at home and it was really good. The cornbread was also really good. The star of the show were these sweet potatoes (candied yams I’d actually call them). These were cooked with love. Warning though to anyone that can’t have much oil/butter on their diet, but to me this is what made them so flavorful. Will be back again

This place is awesome! We were on a long road trip and stopped for dinner not knowing anything about the area or this restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised (understatement!). When we entered we were greeted by the most polite young man, his name was Ferris. My husband explained we have never been here and Ferris walked us thru the menu. He was so patient with us and just had the best customer service I have had somewhere in a very long time. Also the food was out of this world!!! Wish we lived in the area however we are 5 hours away, otherwise we would be back here over and over again! Highly recommend 👌 👍

Ok so we got food from this place like 5 times and 4 out of those 5 our ENTIRE ORDER WAS SCREWED UP!!! But what’s MUCH MUCH WORSE, is that the LAST 3 TIMES, THERE WAS AN ENORMOUS amount of CLEAR, ROCK HARD CARTILAGE!!! It was DISGUSTING TO EVEN LOOK AT!! THAT was our LAST TRY! They DESPERATELY NEED SOME COOKS WHO KNOW HOW TO WORK WITH BBQ!!! ***** in response to the person from Smoke House who responded. In case you couldn’t tell, I’m old school. I don’t worry about a persons “feelings” if I use “all caps”. It’s simply a way to “emphasize the word”. Besides that, I never said a word to anyone there, just that you got my order wrong….again…..and please fix it. I did not yell, raise my voice or even become rude with absolutely anyone there. Perhaps I should’ve, at least THEN, your accusation would have merit. The fact is, that you’re meat is extremely high in fat content, and from my experience, I’ve had to spend a LOT of time cutting as much of the fat out as I could, and that HARD, CLEAR cartridge, or whatever it was, that was gross. Wonder if there’s a weight involved when they measure out how much meat to put on each sandwich? Who knows. But I do not appreciate the accusation of being rude, or in ANY way “non-level headed”. Had I not been, I certainly wouldn’t have just left a review!!

The Smoked Mac-N-Cheese is really good! I don’t think it’s baked, and the texture is a bit grainy, but it was really good! I also ordered the roasted sweet potatoes. I expected them to be more like a casserole or candied yams, but they’re actually Smokey and savory. Not a huge fan but they’re seasoned well! I paid $12 for two med sides and the portions were much bigger than I expected!

It’s a super cozy place, super quick and nice service. Would definitely go back again.

Edited to say that I came here a second time a day apart and the food is completely different? Ordered the exact same Mac and cheese and it’s now baked and full of oil? Literal night and day difference. Was looking forward to the same one :(

Recommended dishes: Smoked Mac'n'Cheese

The pulled pork BBQ is great. If you get the baked beans make sure to get an extra cup of sauce to season them up. The food is moderately priced for the amount and quality. I would go back again.
Edit 7/12/25: paid $15 for a sandwich with 2 slices of turkey. Way too expensive. It was good but the price is too high.

This is the best brisket in RVA! Im going to hate myself for posting this the first time I stop by and they are out! This place wasn't even on my radar until I dashed there 4 times within 2 hrs. The fatty brisket and catfish are tops. The only downside is the Mac and cheese by itself.

Yay!! A BBQ place in Mechanicsville right near our house! This place is situated not in the most ideal location but the food is well worth it and top notch! My family was visiting from CA and it, being a Monday, not many BBQ spots in RVA were open. However I stumbled upon Olde Towne and I’m so glad I did! We had a little bit of everything! We had the pulled pork, brisket, ribs, sweet potatoes, coleslaw, mac n cheese, hushpuppies and corn bread. I was not a fan of the different sauces because it tasted a little too spicy for me but my husband enjoyed them! But I didn’t think any of the meat needed the sauce honestly. All of the meat was cooked to perfection and was so tender! I can’t choose a favorite because it was all delicious. All the sides were delicious too. My favorite had to be the Smokey Mac n cheese and the corn bread. The corn bread tasted homey and was amazing! We were able to order online which was quick and easy to use. Our large order was ready on time. We will definitely be back again!
