WOW WOW WOW! We have stayed in old Inns all over the world, and this may have been our BEST experience! The host Brittany and her staff were TOP NOTCH! They went out of there way to show us the history and details of the building and grounds! The place is UNREAL! We loved the room decor, comfort, history and location! We will be back MANY MANY more times, TRUST ME! 10 STARS!!
They don’t change the blankets they are rude and disrespectful head of housekeeping does what she want and they just let u go for no reason
Architecture, furniture, and decor are all from another century. Very historic and extremely atmospheric. Antiques everywhere including the guest rooms. Excellent restaurant with a small menu for breakfast and dinner.
This is a lovely old historic inn. It is furnished with antiques and unique items. There are several rooms to hang out in and a cute little self-serve coffee/tea bar. The staff was super-friendly, helpful, and informative. The seasonal decorations were festive and spirited. Taking a point off for the room because there were some issues with the bedding. There was food stuck to the bedskirt, stains on the coverlet and crumbs on the night table - otherwise the room was very clean.
We recently celebrated our wedding reception at the Wayside Inn, and it was nothing short of magical. This beautiful historic inn is full of character, charm, and timeless elegance—every corner of the property tells a story, and it provided the perfect setting for our special day.
What truly set the experience apart was the amazing staff, especially Brittany, the property manager. From the very beginning, Brittany was attentive, organized, and incredibly kind. She guided us through the planning process with professionalism and genuine care, making sure every detail was just right. On the day of the event, she and her team made everything run seamlessly—we didn’t have to worry about a thing.
Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the venue. The indoor spaces were warm and inviting, and the outdoor areas were just stunning—ideal for photos. The combination of the inn’s historical charm and the team’s hospitality created an atmosphere that felt both elegant and personal.
If you're looking for a wedding venue that’s rich in history, beautifully maintained, and staffed by people who truly care, we can’t recommend the Wayside Inn and Brittany enough. It was everything we hoped for and more.
This is an absolutely amazing. very old inn that is full of charm, character and a long history!! They will be reopening the restaurant in October. There are 5 separate dining areas from casual to formal. Two sitting rooms, a wedding venue and several outside seating areas. There are 21 rooms all with period antiques. The staff are just wonderful! Jessica gave us the full tour which we so appreciated. There are about 20 wineries within 30 minutes of here as well as the town of Winchester. We'll be back with a bunch of friends for a few nights to take it all in!
My son and I were just travelling from Washington to Cincinnati and stumbled across this treasure of an inn. Even though we arrived a bit late, we were warmly welcomed by the innkeeper, Ms. Brittany. She made us feel at home gave us a quick tour of the inn - make sure you ask for one when you stay. The bedrooms are amazing and full of period furniture as are the common rooms. The highest praise I can give it though, is that my thirteen year old son was so fascinated with the place that he demanded we stayed an extra night, so that we could enjoy it completely.
Used as Harvest Host stop over. Quiet and had 30amp connection for a small fee
Mistress Brittany received us with uncommon courtesy and did relate many particulars touching the history of this house. We lodged in Chamber the Fourteenth, called the Rhodes Suite, which proved most commodious and agreeable to our comfort. Whilst seated before the hearth, we fancied some unseen spirit took an interest in our company. As the dining-room was not yet in service, we took a pleasant ride to Front Royal, where we enjoyed crab cakes of notable excellence. Middletown afforded but modest diversion within its bounds; yet we found ourselves within easy reach of sundry places of uncommon interest. We should be pleased to return in future and make our abode in another chamber, for it seems each offers its own character and charm.
Brittany was awesome! Had a great time 😊

Stopped in along a roadtrip and battlefield visit. Very friendly staff and convenient to battlefields and interstate.
Really neat historic inn. Totally enjoyed my stay. The room was clean, quiet, and very comfortable. My only disappointment was that I planned to go to Larrick's Tavern when I arrived -- I didn't know it was temporarily closed. No dining/drinking available on site, so ended up going to a pizza joint a block away -- it was fine. I would DEFINITELY stay at Wayside Inn again!
This place is so cute! We just stopped here on our way through, the food was great, and we're definitely coming back to hang out. Check out the ghosts globes in the last part of the video 😱 (I included a screen shot from the video.)
We booked this without realizing it was considered a haunted attraction. We wound up feeling uneasy and checking out very quickly. With that being said, that is my fault for not researching. The inn itself is absolutely beautiful. The room was beautiful and very clean. I recommend the stay, it just wasn’t for us!
I loved this hotel, it’s old and it’s a historic so yeah it needs fresh paint. But each room is different and all antique furniture. We had the best night sleep very comfortable beds. Had dinner at their Irish-Mexican restaurant had very good tacos and fish and chips. Cod was browned a little too much but good, should get 3 pieces for the price. Over a great stay.
