Fifth or sixth visit and first lackluster experience. Booked bar seating for my wife, 11 year old son, and myself because the service is always better. The host told us that VA ABC doesn't allow children to sit at the bar, which we looked up on the spot, and it's not a law. We celebrated New Years Eve upstairs in the bar area at a high top table. Riley, our server, was extraordinary! The food was so delicious. We enjoyed the festive decorations and atmosphere! Great way to ring in the New Year!!!
1870 is an excellent restaurant. The only issues we had while dining out was the presentation of the meal. I would have expected the presentation to be a little more than what was delivered. We also had an issue with one of the dishes (salmon) being under cooked, needing a return to the kitchen for more time in the oven. The service was top shelf!
