went today for breakfast but got eggs and biscuits from yesterday . underwhelming compared to its sister location .

The details matter. Communication is key. Our service failed on every level including handing our party over to a different server without saying another word to us. We sat for 40 minutes before even having our order placed. No acknowledgement or apology.

We had a really unfortunate visit to Charred during their weekend brunch service. I’ll start with the food, which was decent but not worth the headache of the service to offset another visit. We ordered the biscuits and gravy, chicken biscuit, and the smash burger. The biscuits arrived ice cold, while everything else on the plate (chicken, gravy) was hot. Weird, but ok. The burger was delayed due to waitress confusion on which one we ordered. By the time they remade it, the rest of us were done eating and we were ready to leave. So we took it to go to try later. Fries were legit and coffee was delicious. Past the food, the service was extremely slow, even though there seemed to be plenty of staff working. One of our water glasses was dirty so we asked for another that never came. As we sat and watched, there were also several food safety issues that made us cringe. Food was being left under the heat lamps for 10-15 minutes at a time. There were open cups of dressings and ranch sitting on the pass with no covers. I watched the bartender touch every piece of ice that went into a drink. These may not be actual safety issues, but they were enough to make us not want to come back. Finally when the check came they charged us for both burgers, then took another 10 minutes to correct the ticket before we could leave. I’d never been so happy to finally walk out of a restaurant in Richmond. Also, charred and blackened are not the same thing

We were first time visitors and sat at the bar. We had the wings, pizza, fries and pimento cheese. The happy hour was good. We had beer and wine. The service and food were outstanding.

I had the brioche French toast with blueberry balsamic compote, it just made my mouth happy! So good!!!

Charred does not miss!!!! The food is always sensational and executed fast and seasoned. The service is amazing and I'm in love with the location ( Hull St). Great choice everytime.

Only pet peeve is if you're sitting on the opposite side... have to go all the way around the bar to utilize the bathroom

The menu description sounded great, but it did not deliver. “Over easy” eggs came out hard throughout, potatoes were old and oily, chicken wasn’t good enough to even finish, poached eggs were still clear and slimy. Grits were good and the service was good too!

Burger, fries, and pizza were all delicious! Service was good too. Brussel sprouts were crispy but needed a bit more sauce. Cocktails sounded interesting but ended up being a bit mediocre. The happy hour specials on beer sound like more the way to go. Atmosphere was cool but somewhat loud.

Some friends & I met up here and the waitress was so friendly & prompt w our drinks- atmosphere was great and clean-bathrooms were clean. I can’t wait to come back here for dinner!! Oh and my friend was so happy her pizza was even bigger than she expected- and she crushed it;)
