Stay away from this place she owes money to everyone and won't pay them back, don't trust a word she says

Ordered a BLT with chips and a chicken sandwich with "fries". Along with two brownies; M&M and a blondie. BLT toast was hard as a brick with the smallest sliver of a tomato and burnt homemade chips. Chicken sandwich was nothing to brag about either. Bread, hard and chicken dry. "Fries" are actually breakfast squared potatoes. M&M brownie was good but blondie was dry and crumbly. I ordered around 1 pm on a Tuesday and felt like we got the morning left overs. This was doubly disappointing because I've been wanting to try this place for a while. Not likely to return. Positive, the employee up front was nice and helpful!

Parking sure was easy to find for Coal Mine Coffee and Sweets!

We pulled right up to the front door and parked in a marked spot, for patrons only.

As soon as we entered, the owner greeted us warmly and quickly from the counter. She seated us in a booth, tucked away from the front door.

On the way in, we noticed bagged coffees and tumblers for sale.
It’s a cozy little cafe, with an espresso machine and kitchen to the left of the restaurant.

My husband is the one with a good eye. When he was cruising the menu, he noticed that they served a chocolate chip muffin.
He remembered how much I said I loved those back in college, so my mind was set!

Our server was the cafe owner, and she was friendly and took the time to discuss the menu with us. We appreciated her attentiveness. She walked us through the menu.

When she served my chocolate chip muffin, I was over the moon. Not only did it look the way I had hoped, it was warmed through and through! Melted chocolate chip goodness, here I come.

My husband’s brownie also boasted chocolate chips. It did not disappoint in that category. This brownie had a dense, rich texture, almost like a flourless cake.

As for our beverages, a large home brewed sweet tea was my husband’s pick. How refreshing it was! Not to overpower the chocolate muffin, I opted for a vanilla latte.

It was a smooth, creamy latte and perfect for an afternoon inside.

We enjoyed our trip to Coal Mine Coffee & Sweets! We’d like to go back and try something from the breakfast or lunch menu.

We know we’ll get a great parking spot!

Parking: Parking spots are labeled right out front of the shop. There are 4 or 5 of those. I didn't check, but I bet there is some overflow parking, since there are so many cute shops there.

This is great little local take out and dine in restaurant for locals making multiple stops or those just passing thru the area who are looking for a great home style breakfast with good coffee and drinks and authentic bagels straight from NY. The service is great with the owners taking an active role in serving and cooking your meal. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Come by for coffee most times, but I picked up the biscuits and gravy this time. Great choice, and I will buy it again. Oh, plus a hot mocha coffee to go. Picked up a sticky bun to eat a little later.

Really enjoy this place. It’s a small, hole-in-the-wall cafe, the kind of place you can relax and unwind. Serves simple food, such as a perfect grill cheese and wonderful tomato soup. Excellent coffee. Friendly service. Quiet and comfortable. Will return over and over.

We visited as we would be in Midlo early and I was looking for a breakfast spot where the coffee was tasty. We would have to wait a few minutes as it was before 8, but it was worth it!The coffee was great, (Yay!) but my husband described his breakfast as the best he has had in Richmond. High praise from a breakfast guy. I loved mine as well.We decided to split the carrot coffee cake to go with a second cup and enjoyed it.The atmosphere was lovely with morning appropriate music and friendly service.
