Wow! RVA’s best coffee is hiding in an industrial park in Midlothian. Guide Roasting Company’s single origin coffee beans and compostable K-cups are delicious, and I can’t believe they’re just 5 minutes from my house. They also have a number of flavored K-cup varieties and decaf options. Not sure which one you want? The staff here are super friendly, passionate about coffee and providing great customer service, and will let you sample multiple varieties to find the one(s) that are right for you. They also have a number of delicious espresso creations on their menu as well as tasty bites of food. Skip the boring nearby Dunkin, Starbucks, and Roost, and instead, stop by Guide Roasting Company to support an awesome family-owned, small local business.

Forget the burnt espresso, the mounds of sugar and overpriced beverages at the chain coffee shops- come check out this local business! My husband and i have become regulars here. I get a hot latte with oat milk and sweetened with vanilla syrup and I’ve never been disappointed 10/10

like the other reviews said, the location is a bit random, but it is very easy to find! there is plenty of parking too.

the baked goods are sooooo good, i got the sin-a-bun muffin and i’d eat 10 more :)

the coffee was scrumptious and thoroughly caffeinated! they have a lot of options for coffee in house as well as buying beans and k-cups.

and, it’s all affordable!! i got a huge muffin and a large latte for $10! that’s rare! their baked goods are so reasonably priced. i guarantee this would have been like $14 at a large chain.

everyone who worked there was super nice too!

i’m looking forward to my next visit! my only suggestion is more hours/availability on weekends

This place I'm convinced saved my sanity as I spent the week in town at St Francis hospital hanging out with a very ornery and sick 82 year old. I loved it so much I ordered 2 days in a row, and after my family saw my bagel and iced dirty chai.... Suddenly everyone had to have something from here. Each time I arrived to pick up my online order I was treated by a warm and friendly barista. My order was always fresh and tasty. The location is so bizarre but I found out it's because they have a green coffee pod distribution business in the back warehouse. Don't let the odd location deter you! Even though I just picked up my order and dashed there are places to sit on your laptop and chill. It's very quiet and peaceful. Please support these folks. They made a wonderful impression on this out of towner.

I believe I found a gem in the area. it's been a while I've been looking for a good and tasty coffee for my espresso machine. I found this place by chance on maps and decided to try it. I was suggested to try the midlo espresso and I am sure I will be their customer from now on.

Hands down the best coffee shop & roaster in the area! Guide roasts all of the coffee they use for drinks + retail in-house & their attention to quality shows. Whether you prefer drip coffee or espresso drinks, you can’t go wrong here. Their location is slightly tucked away from main roads, but it’s absolutely worth your time to go check them out ✌🏻

I went here on a whim. I needed good coffee to wake me up before starting my work day. The atmosphere was welcoming the moment I walked inside. The two ladies running the cafe were super sweet, patient, and helpful. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to drink. I shared the flavors I enjoy in my coffee and they were happy to make something on the fly. I will definitely be going back when I need a pick me up.

I found the prices to be reasonable. The drink that was made for me was a caramel and hazelnut latte. The Midlo Espresso is so delicious and definitely had that extra kick to wake me up this morning.

It’s not just a pick up and go cafe, they have seating and breakfast options like burritos and sandwiches. I think I saw pastries too, I was solely focused on the coffee though. You can also purchase their coffee beans in bags or pods.

If you’re in the area I highly recommend checking them out.

I recently discovered this place through the curiosity of a friend/colleague and since first trying their coffee, I have switched entirely to Guide for my daily coffee beans. As someone who loves dark roasts, their Dominion Dark is the best! I brought some friends of mine who are also avid coffee-enjoyers here and the barista Lisa was super nice and helpful and gave us various samples to try, all of which were amazing. We hadn't come across a place that managed to do matcha lattes as awesome as Lisa prepared for us! As staff will tell you, this location is set up to help you to talk about the various types of beans that they roast and everything is centered around introducing you to the wide range of roasts and origins that they offer. They had amazing looking food here too (although we didn't try any while we were there). The storefront is very clean and well organized, you will find awesome staff and great products!

Found this place last week when I was on the hunt for quality coffee. Have not stopped going back since! The coffee is amazing. And the Midlo roast is the kind they use in Gelate Celesti ice cream, my absolute fav! 10/10 recommend.
