The Hard Shell Bellgrade

After being cooped up from the icey snow, it was delightful to get out, enjoy good food with good company in a very warm setting. Being three gal pals enjoying a Saturday evening out, we enjoyed to spacious booth out near the bar area and the music played throughout the evening was an added bonus (a throw back to our city nights out). Thank you!

Excellent evrning! Grest service, wonderful specials and a nice quiet experience. One of the few places you csn get fresh shell fish.

My friend and I had a wonderful unhurried time talking and enjoying each other. We have been friends for a long time and we love the menu at Hard-shell. Our waitress was very gracious with her time and the arugula salad and she crab soup were delicious.

Everyone was extremely accommodating to our group as one of its had some mobility issues. We were seated promptly , our appetizer was excellent ( Oysters Rockefeller. My mother in law and wife both had the salmon , which was very good, my father in law had fried oysters which he stated were good as well. I ordered the grilled shrimp and scallops which was an outstanding choice. My father in law commented that I should ask for bread to clean the plate. Everything was great!

Took my wife there on our anniversary. Excellent food and service and we'll likely go back before our next anniversary.

Food and atmosphere were great. Waiter was attentive to our needs. We are regulars and it never disappoints.

It was okay not bad not great just okay. Noise awful tho. We were in the back room they have and this one table was extremely loud. Being in a smaller area just exacerbated their "outside voices"

A beautiful establishment with great atmosphere, calm lights and quiet music. Tables are spaced closely together and it's hard to know whether your table neighbors will be loud or quiet. Generally, prices are understandable but still pricy considering the food isn't substantially special. I cannot fathom a need to charge the price of the bottle for a single glass of wine. My wife ordered fillet and lobster which was delicious. We were surprised to cut into the fillet and find it cooked decidedly rare (deep red or purple) and not medium (hot pink) like she had ordered. We chose not to return it since it was still edible. I ordered a seasonal special of salmon which again wasn't bad but left me disappointed. The salmon was a small strip like a grocery store cut and was cooked and seasoned the same way I would make it at home. The cranberry/raisin sauce with it was very good, but the sides that it comes with are not the right choices (mashed potatoes and asparagus) and I ultimately felt like I was eating thanksgiving leftovers. We skipped dessert realizing that it would push us over our $150 budget we had allocated for the meal. I've been a fan of The Hardshell for many years and what surprises me about this visit is that their menu is largely the same as it has been for the last 10 years. It seems as if they are suffering from a lack of creativity in the kitchen. The table service was nothing exceptional and pretty much exactly what you would find at many other establishments; waiters, waitresses and servers who treat you as a number and a barrier between them and the end of their shift. Our waitress did not speak loudly or clearly enough for me to hear her and eventually disappeared and was replaced by the lady who brings water around with no introduction or explanation. No one thanked us for coming as we left. I'm sad to say this, but I likely won't be returning as there as better establishments for the same price.

Food and service were excellent. The carb dip appetizer was good as always. Everyone enjoyed their entrees of shrimp and scallops, crab cakes and filet mignon.

Our Friday evening dinner started with our server forgetting to bring the one cocktail ordered at our table. Appetizers were oysters on half shell (excellent), oysters Rockefeller (more spinach than necessary) and roasted Brussels sprouts (delicious, large serving). For entrees, we chose rockfish filet (nicely prepared), fried oysters (small, lots of batter), grouper tacos (delicious) and shrimp/scallops (custom prepared to avoid dairy). The noise level wasn't bad, had no trouble carrying on a conversation. The shopping center location made parking easy, even on a holiday Friday night. The disappointment of the evening was an inattentive, distracted server, slow to remove plates, didn't check back to replenish water. No bread served with the meal. We had to request our check from another staff member. We would go there again but be sure to get a different server.

Excellent service; food was hot and delicious. Almost brought all orders at the same time. Staff attentive to filling glasses, offering desserts, etc. tried a couple of desserts which were ok but not memorable.

From the food to the service everything was fantastic! Their happy hour menu is a great deal, I tried a cosmopolitan and omg it was amazing and they did not skimp on the alcohol like most establishments do.The steamed oysters were amazing according to my Fiancé (I’m not an oyster fan) they were nice and plump looking.Then for their regular dinner menu we ordered the ribs and seafood potstickers, the ribs were a little spicy for me but the potstickers were amazing, highly recommend you try them!
Their sirloin steak and fries were amazing, the steak melted in your mouth and comes out sliced which was a nice touch.
I had the shrimp pasta and omg it was amazing, the linguine melts in your mouth and the sauce is bursting with flavor!
We finished up with the cream brûlée and as always it was perfect!
Taylor was our waitress tonight and did an excellent job :)
