I came here on a weekday night with my wife. It wasn't very busy and we came ready to eat so we ordered the Shrimp and Grits, Duck Breast and Carrot cake for dessert. The Duck Breast was a standout for me. All of the food was very good, I'd absolutely recommend to others to come and have a nice dinner here.
Looking for somewhere to have brunch in Midlothian and found the Shaved Duck. We had prompt service and enjoyed delicious meals. My date had the shrimp and grits and I had the duck hash. Very nice brunch.
I had heard good things and had dinner there last night. Started with the duck ragoons and mussels they were ok but not very hot. Then I got the fish and I must say it lacked seasoning and it was served with corn and peas. I felt like this was a dish I could have made at home. For the $ that was spent I expected to be wowed but left very disappointed. I shared my concerns with the waitress but she said the kitchen had closed and nothing could be done.
Great service and delicious food! My wife and I had the duck breast and duck pot pie; both were superb. I would also highly recommend going during their daily happy hour, which offers great deals on drinks and apps.
Appetizers were good. The she crab soup was the bomb. Chicken cordon Bleu tasted burnt. My girl's rockfish smelled really fishy and tasted bland. Two of our friend's food was cold.Prices are high for the quality of the food. Our server was good, fun and friendly.
Good meal, service was really good. Loved the menu. Plenty of choices and yes of course duck is on the menu!
Not just a meal, but a flavor adventure. I got the duck breast and every single bite was a “wow.” I was sad when my plate was empty. My wife got the skirt steak and loved it as well. Our waiter was professional and personable. Perfect place for a date night, special occasion, or just a fantastic meal!
The duck burger was excellent. It was so tasty I ordered a second round. The cocktail was very good. The servers were friendly. The Christmas tree was a nice seasonal touch and decorated very well. I'm looking forward to my next visit. There are other items I saw on the menu that interest me, but I'm going to have a hard time not choosing a duck burger every time.
I had the Duck Breast. It was amazing. Not being familiar with eating duck, I was eager to try it. I was amazed at how beef-like it was. Everything was seasoned well. The service was excellent. We had to give a credit card to make the reservation but it was nice to have our table ready. I highly recommend for special occasions!
We have been here a few months ago and the food was fantastic (crispy duck leg and salmon, when it was available). Really, really good so suggested when came to town yesterday. However, last night was a huge disappointment. I had chicken cordon bleu, which was decent but the gravy on top was thick and dry and brussels sprouts were very over cooked. Another person ordered the ribeye, medium, but came out rare to borderline raw, so much that none of the fat even rendered and didnt even eat the green beans. My kids ordered the kids pasta and cheese burger. Pasta was severely overcooked and had no seasoning whatsoever, tasted like wet paper, so sent it back and got a cheeseburger. Both burgers was very undecooked, near raw and had a strong seasoning that was really unpleasant. Came with french fries that were very soggy, like they had been sitting in oil for a long time but not crispy, somehow. Wife had rockfish, but said it was really underseasoned, but otherwise ok. The restaurant didn't look all that busy and maybe just a bad night in the kitchen, but definitely questioning if we will return. First experience was great, last night was a bit awful. Best thing about dinner was the old-fashioned I had, which was really good.

The Shaved Duck accommodate a group work presentation. We had an event room for ourselves that was closed off to other noises in the restaurants. Good wine selection. Very nice presentation of the food and table setting. Also very clean.I had the chicken gnocchi and carrot cake. Both were delicious. There were various textures in the gnocchi dish that overall went well together. Will definitely return to this establishment
This restaurant is unique and everything on the menu is delicious! If you like duck it is definitely the place to go but they also have amazing seafood dishes. They have craft cocktails that are wonderful. The staff is super friendly and it is a great place for a date night.
This was my second visit to The Shaved Duck and I was reminded that it had been too long. The duck empanadas were (once again) fantastic and I was surprised by all of the wonderful flavor in their simple summer salad; excellent vinaigrette. Sadly I had to skip the wine (driving) as it was 1/2 price bottle night. The restaurant was a bit noisy but not so bad that a table of 4 could not hear; a bit tougher if you were at a longer table.
The Shaved Duck has met our expectations and more every time we have gone there. The food, the atmosphere and the staff are top notch. It’s so nice to go to a restaurant as a family and still have delicious food and drinks. I highly recommend brunch and dinner at The Shaved Duck.
We came here for brunch and it was such a great experience! Duck is definitely their strong suit. The duck in the hash and the duck and waffle are both so delicious. Although for the hash you really don’t get much duck meat. The waffle itself was pretty dry but the pickles they put on top are pretty interesting addition to the flavor. Also recommend their bread board! Everything is made in house and everything on the board is soooo delicious!
