Zzaam! Kokee Midlothian

As others have stated, this place is always chronically understaffed. I am curious about this as it seems to be a common complaint. I went yesterday and it was maybe the worst experience I've had at this location. Most of it was not the fault of the employees buuuutttt......

Firstly, they were out of the flour burrito wraps, only had veggie. Okay fine. Then after I've got my order started, I find out they are out of beef. Not ideal, I'll try a different protein. Out of tea flavors and toppings, and things took absolutely forever to come out since there were all of three people working on a Saturday evening.

All of that I can generally overlook, but then I got horrendous food poisoning overnight and this was the only thing I ate yesterday. My partner helpfully told me (after I'd been sick) that he saw the employee at the front check people out, hand over to go bags, and use the register, then come back to making food without changing his glove.

The food here is usually good quality, but the amount of strain that they are putting on employees with understaffing seems to be leading to careless errors. I really wish the owners would step it up. I have seen the establishment reply on multiple reviews apologizing for the long wait times, ingredient shortages, and spotty ingredient quality but not much seems to have changed!

The food is good and the staff is great but needs better management. When I went, some foods options were not available and it took time for the food to be prepared. More staff is needed from what I can see or better preparation.

Vegetarian options: Tofu is made custom so takes some time.

Terrible food nothing speaks of Korean with a pinch of beef sells for $16 not recommended and the owner is not of Korean and knows nothing of korean food

Came here because it has high ratings but boy we were disappointed! The kimchi was not authentic, the food was not hot, and we waited ten minutes for a singular fried egg! We saw other people waiting and waiting for their food. They were also out of beef, out of chicken, and out of noodles! Maybe if it was a restaurant, where they serve you, it would feel different to have to wait, but the way Zzam is set up seems like it will be fast—it was not! What a bummer!

I must say, the chicken here might be the most delectable things that have ever met my tongue. The workers are oh so kind; their personalities do indeed warm my soul. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming, I feel at home as soon as I walk in. This place is certainly my favorite to go to whenever I'm in need of a variety of savory flavors.

The kid with the glasses is very kind and attentive when taking my order every time I come in! Recently my drink tasted different and he explained to me that there’s some shipping issues with the ingredients they typically use. I appreciated the honesty so much!

Found it by accident but what a find. Fried rice with shrimp was perfect. Had dumplings and chickwings. Everything was tasty. Highly recommended.

4 stars because there is only ever 2 employees. No matter if I walk in or doordash/grubhub it’s never ready on time. Otherwise we love Zzaam and their ramen. It’s really enough for 2 people and is seasoned well, kinda spicy even when we choose mild but overall delicious. Even the doordash deliveries arrive STEAAAMING HOT! They cook it fresh and i love that!! This is my kids favorite late night dinner esp if in brandermill area. The boba is also delicious

I was picking up an Uber eats and after waiting 5 mins the man gave me the wrong order. The lady who was helping tried to tell him he was making the wrong order. He then says I have the 6 bowls right here I'm ready to make them now. The problem is he never told me it was going to be a 25-30 min wait. 15 min into waiting I definitely should have left but then felt obligated to still take the delivery so I don't waste my time for nothing. Don't know how the food is but I personally wouldn't come back here.

Good food. Quiet little place. Excellent service. Some food requires longer than others to prepare, but I wasn't in a rush. Great location near grocery store and theatre.

Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of space for a wheelchair. Especially going in and out.

With new restaurants opening up this is not the time for the quality to go down. Smaller corn dogs are not great. There were things missing from the order. There were ingredients missing from the kokee bowl. And my chicken katsu sandwich was dry.
