Our group of 10 from a Lake Anna weekend made this our second stop on a Sunday afternoon and we were glad we did. Beer was excellent with great variety. The local wine from Barboursville was top notch. The food was very good and came out quickly. The seating both inside and outside was good. It also had a good spot for music events. The owner made you feel welcome and he made sure you knew your patronage was appreciated. For us Cooling Pond touched all the bases. We will go back...
We stopped in on a Sunday around 12:30 and found the place empty. Turns out all the folks in the area are enjoying Lake Anna and don't come out till they're done with the sun. The bartender was very nice, poured us a nice flight of their beers and let us chill for a bit. We didn't try any of the food. None of the beers jumped out at me as extra special but everything was drinkable and they have a nice variety of styles, so something for everyone. The tasting room...
I visited at about 1 in the afternoon on Mother's Day Sunday. I was looking to get some lunch and a beer, I found a great beer, but there was no menu in sight. The bartender seemed to only care about putting me the beer and starting my tab, while i didn't ask, he also didn't mention food. I kinda wanted a second beer, but the service was so slow, even though they were not busy, I finally just paid my tab and left.
